Very good sensing and detection range
I've scanned dozens of things with it since buying and am amazed at what it detects. It clearly displayed a bumble bee that was about 6 feet away. It has shown small aircraft in the sky at nearly 1 mile, and a small chipmunk sitting on a stump about 50 yards away. In the house I've used it to "see" freezer coils as well as which light switches and electrical outlets were warm. After a minor hand surgery, I used it to check for blood flow in a finger and it clearly showed reduced flow in the bandaged area. In the woods, it detected a line of whitetail deer scrapes that I couldn't easily see but that had relatively less leaves covering them so they were a different temperature than the surrounding ground. Very, very sensitive and useful device.

Works well, but range is questionable
First, you MUST fully charge the unit before trying it out. Then experiment with the menu controls and find which target color and background is best for you. It takes some experimenting to figure out how to get a good clear picture of the area searched. But the infrared system works pretty well for the price. I am a FLiR factory trained police helicopter pilot and have used their aviation unit for years. What we had then was black and white, and now they have color (I'm retired). We caught a lot of bad guys in my 6 years of using the units. You could run, but you couldn't hide!

useful thermal veiwer
thermal unit has good range, sensitivity and clarity for the price. good for passive outdoor observation, SAR, game location or just checking a noise at night at your campsite. comparable to similar FLIR and Seek systems. a good item to have in the field or to check your house for heat leaks and hot spots in your electrical system

Nice but...
Okay Leupold, nice tool but what's up with no manual ? I know, I can get it online right ? That's BS, a manual should be included with anything you sell, period. No nickle and dime excuses either, I should lower my rating even more, but the scope seems to function good.

LTO-Quest HD
I bought the LTO-Quest HD to help see what was in the woods around our property. Our horse, cats and chickens seem to get spooked for no reason day and night. Not sure if it is just nothing, 4 legged varmints or 2 legged ones. We have some very unscrupulous neighbours who like to go out in the woods and shoot their bb-guns at anything that moves and I mean anything. These are grown adults with nothing better to do. We installed security cameras with night vision and ir illuminators to help extend their range but seeing in the thick southeast Texas brush is difficult. This thermal imager is is great. Very high quality for the price. Does take some getting used to but once you figure it out it is just the thing. I went looking for my chickens in the woods during the day and could not see them 50ft. away from me with the naked eye. Turned on the Quest HD and man they just glowed on the screen in about 5 seconds. Highly recommend this product.

I have at least a half dozen Leupold scopes and I like them all. But maybe electronics aren't for Leupold.
Fail, out of the box.I charged it up, turned it on, got nothing but a white display. The flashlight works fine. The device storage is accessible from the computer while connected. It powers on and off just fine. But, the thermal imager only shows a white display when powered on.I tried calling Leupold technical service first, "Your place in the queue, 54". A warranty is great, but I don't want to sit on the phone all day.Seller was sold out, exchange wasn't possible. So, I just returned it.At this point, I think I'll wait to see if others have better luck and like how it works before trying again.I hate to leave a 1-star rating without getting a chance to try it out. But, I hate the hassle of buying something that doesn't work more.

Simple to set up, effective at its purpose
What's not to like when a product works exactly as advertised? We bought this item after talking to a person at one of the sporting goods stores during a vacation. He was raving about how much he liked his so we came to Amazon to find it and purchased it right away. I highly recommend this device.

Thermal is a game changer
Works as expected. Screen is small. Pricey for what it does. Finding thermal gear leaks on home exterior was a bonus. Locating downed deee at night much more effective with this device. Should have come with a small carrying case / pouch for this price! I used a digital camera case instead.
