So, between myself and a friend of mine we have purchased three of these, and ALL THREE have had the same problem. The place were you put in the disk will not latch. I can see what the problem is, there is tiny black plastic tab that is supposed to catch and latch it closed, but it breaks off. I could hear it rattling around inside the thing as I was opening the box. Same problem on all three. Others have reported the same issue. Pretty serious defect. For over $100 I would have expected at least a plug. Also the date feature is just an aesthetic since there is no way to properly align the disk to a date. It does produce a star field/constellations depending on which disk you’re using. But there is no way to verify the accuracy of the image. Definitely not worth the price of admission.

Considering this was over $100, I thought it would be a good gift for my son who is in college taking astronomy classes. We were disappointed and when he found out I paid more than $20 he told me it was junk and to send it back. I really does nothing more than a projector with a wheel that rotates on the ceiling. Don't waste your money. It was supposed to be his big Christmas gift and it was a big disappointment.

The unit I received had clearly been opened and re-packaged as a return -- nothing was protected in plastic with nothing more than a foam base to hold the bottom cradle and the instructions were loose in the box. That said, the unit might have been fully functional except -- the STAR DISK WAS MISSING! Very disappointing and sloppy inspection of returned items on the part of the vendor.

The actual machine is not sturdy. The lights are poorly lit. I wanted to return the item, but the company wanted to charge a 20.00 restocking fee. There no mention of this charge prior to purchase. I will not purchase this item or anything from the company since the items are poorly made and there is an unannounced return fee,
