yes you could use another set of speakers and this will ad the sub.

Q: What type of inputs does this have

1/8" stereo jack, the same as normal computer speakers. Same size plug as a computer microphone, earbuds, ipod... The picture shows the blue/green plugs that are standard computer sound jacks. The input is the same type.

Q: How many watts is the speaker rated for?

Hello Tryrone - Not sure what the watt rating is, but suspect it is not very high. However, I bought this to go with a pair of H/K computer speakers I already had. It does a nice job and sounds pretty good - even when fairly loud. But is does start to distort a little at higher volumes (beyond that at which I listen). Hope this helps. Steve

Hi. I am using the subwoofer with a standard pair of harmon kardon pc speakers. The subwoofer plugs into a plug designated on the back of one of these speakers as "subwsoofer". So, if you have such a plug on the back of one of the speakers, it should be a fairly safe bet that the subwoofer will work with the speakers. Hope this helps. Steve

Well-temper subwoofer...

This device was obviously designed with a specific set of main computer speakers in mind, but does work alright with the basic Logitec speakers I have, and did truly improve teh overall sound of the system. For the price, it is a good value.
