Stop Sign Red (Large)

My Bully loves his cool collar, very excellent tool to have especially in the summer! No overheating here. :-)

I got this for my mom's 8 yr old boxer, who a few months ago went from being a permanent outside dog (from a different owner) to an inside dog (@ my mom's) & she was having trouble staying cool inside (& out for that matter). This collar does seem to help her some, but she does still seem to overheat & pant excessively while wearing it. It's a little big around her neck, so my creative mom improvised & uses a snack bag clip to make it smaller. Good idea if you ask me :) I think she (& her boxer) would give it 2 thumbs (paws) up!

I should note that I had very high expectations when I ordered this product. I thought it was an ingenious idea that would provide my heat suffering pup extended relief and comfort in my non-air conditioned house. Initially, thats exactly what happened. I used the gel pack inside the house and it really seemed to help. Unfortunately, within 15-20 minutes it would be completely warm and essentially useless to combat the heat. Clearly, this is not a manufacturing defect but rather a weather reality that can't be completely prevented, so I don't blame the company. However, I do think that thicker gel packs would provide longer relief because they wouldn't warm to the dogs body temperature so quickly as to become useless. When he wears it outside its great because the ice does melt down his chest which is very helpful and exactly as advertised. I'd love to give this 5 stars because its a great idea but it just doesn't make it for the long haul indoors.

I tried buying the kool kollar at pet smart for which you think that they would carry such a great product, but no, so I went on line to get it. I got the kollar and the new improved ice pack that goes with it. Within 2 weeks, the kollar was shredded and not because of the dog. Now I have to get another one. Poor manufacturing.

The ice packs are tiny and melt faster than the collar can do any good. I have a big dog so I'll keep looking for something to fit his needs.

These collars are Wonderful. We live in AZ and our dogs love to have these on after our walks.Helps to keep them cooled down, just as advertised.We use them extensively in the summer and are on our 2nd set as the first set eventually wore out.

Item works well but needs to be made that it lasts longer instead of changing out the freezer things

I was debating between purchasing this type of collar or one of those bandannas with the soaking crystals in them. After reading several reviews about the crystals being heavy and the bandanna not laying flat against their dog's chest, I decided to go with the Kool Collar. I like the collar, but I have a couple reservations. The first one being that it looks like it's coming apart. Pieces of string seem to be pulling away and falling off. I haven't had any problems yet, but I wonder about the long-term durability of this product. My other issue is if the product is actually working. My dog wears this on trail walks where he is continually sniffing the ground, so the collar lifts and doesn't lay flat against his chest so the water can drip down. It does keep his neck cool, but I don't think it's working to keep his chest cool as much as I would like. I think this is a design flaw. I am going to keep using the collar because I figure some cool water on him is better than none at all, but I'm going to keep researching to find something that lays flat against his chest whether he's sniffing or not.
