The seller shouldn't list this as leather, it is not. This is false advertising. The journal is perfectly okay if you want something just to write in, but I sure wouldn't expect it to last very long. It's troublesome to need to return something which is misrepresented. If you don't want a leather journal, you'll be happy with it. One person asked what the slits in the cover are for; you can place the charms in them to secure the closure. These charms will leave indentation marks on the cover if you plan to carry this in your handbag or something. If this was not advertised as leather, it would probably get 5 stars. But, if you're expecting leather and receive this, you won't be happy. Leather lasts forever, imitation leather does not. I called Amazon and told them the description should be corrected, but doubt it will happen. Too late, I read another 1 star review which pointed out exactly what I'm saying. But, unfortunately, I didn't see that review before I ordered. I wouldn't have ordered this item.

For reference, this is the 8.5 inch or A5 paper sized journal in "retro brown" color.I recently got back into writing and thought something amusing like this would be nice to have. I figured I'd get it, check it out and decide what to do with it from there. It's uh... not really functional.The journal arrived in a nice little box. Somehow, it got bent. A lot. The journal itself has such an aggressive bend that it gets in your way and the paper is bent beyond reasonable use. Beside that, the paper itself is okay for writing or drawing, bit of a brownish color but that's kind of fun for this sort of thing.There were flecks of paper all over the inside of the journal. It was obnoxious to clean these up and I couldn't really get rid of them all. It's one of those things where if you get rid of one, two tiny ones take its place. Ridiculous. There was also a spot of dried... something...For the price, it's obviously not leather. But I didn't expect something that seemed like it was textured cardboard.Also, the charm meant to close the journal up is on too short of a line. This is probably part of why the thing is bent too much.If you're buying this for a kid, go for it. They'll get a kick out of it. Otherwise, spend more money on something nicer.

I have loved writing ever since I can remember and am always looking for Journals for my poems, to write down my dreams and to write my thoughts and prayers in! The hard Journals are not flexible and hard to write in and I wanted something I could carry everywhere I go but I am a Momma on a fixed income! This was just what I was looking for! Beautiful, flexible, fit in my pocketbook and my laptop bag and allowed me to add paper as needed! I can now write anywhere and anytime I want to! It came fast, packaged safely and at a price I could afford on a budget!

First of all, I really appreciate the careful packaging! I thought it would just be shipped with the notebook but it came in a sealed bag and within it a box containing the notebook to preserve the shape!I'm a girl, not too small not too big and it's the size of my hand! I bought it for for calligraphy and drawing. Because it's refillable, I like how I can take out a sheet, write or draw in it, and put it back in and such!Most of these notebooks go for 10 or more but this is a good deal! :)

This journal has nice thick paper which is good for archiving trips and major events. It made an impressive gift and every remarked how much they liked the "Pirate looking" theme.

It was perfect. It was smaller than I thought it would be but it just makes it more portable. You can refill the paper in it too so buy some extra. This is a great little book

These are nice little binders to journal travel experiences or to scrapbook a trip. We plan to travel down the Amazon this summer so it will be perfect! Liked it so much I purchased teo more for Christmas gifts!

This is a very nice journal to use anytime or anywhere. What i mean by that is its lightweight enough to carry with you and durable enough not to tear up or wear out from use. Very reasonably priced for a quality journal.
