This controls the baseboard heater in our bedroom perfectly. It is programmable so we have it set for the exact temps and times we want. It learns and comes on to anticipate the requested time and temp. Also, it works differently than a regular on/off knob style - it pulses the heater at different rates to control the amount the baseboard puts out. This means that it can approach and maintain the desired temperature much more accurately. It also means you save money. We estimated a 10 dollar savings on our first electric bill, so it won't take long to pay for itself. We bought this for the reason that it is totally silent because it is mounted right above the bed. (It is TOTALLY silent!) The other benefits make it even better. The blue light is pretty bright and makes a good night light if you want it. It can be on continuously or only on when you push the buttons. We started with the light on all the time but then found it a bit too bright for right over the bed so we turned it off. A nice feature.I am an HVAC technician and this is the best thermostat I have seen for baseboard electric heat. I think it will run a fan forced heater as well, but you have to program it a bit differently so that it doesn't pulse the fan. The instructions are very good. Highly recommend!!

I bought these high-current thermostats for use in rooms with 2500-3000W ceiling cable heat. They are easy to install and program, and while larger than the old mechanical thermostats they replaced, they look nice on the wall.Ceiling heat is a bit challenging to adjust and slow to warm/cool. As a result, the anticipated start feature here doesn't really work. It's better to simply program the unit to engage the heat 2 hours in advance and disengage it 2 hours prior to the desired time.In rooms with ceiling fans or other circulating air, the thermostat will accurately measure the air temperature, but in rooms without circulating air, you need to set the thermostat about 5 degrees F cooler than you actually want, because radiant heat heats objects/surfaces, not air. The room will feel warm even though the thermostat reads (for example) 62F.Much of this has to do with the way radiant heat works and not with the thermostat itself, though I think the sensors could be somehow reworked to take this into account.

This thermostat is great....when it works. Out of an order of 4, 2 have gone bad in 6 months. The first one, I returned for warranty credit, Looks I will be filing for a second warranty.

Purchased this t-stat along with (2) Stelpro 240V Sonoma style cabinet wall heaters to replace a couple Cadets....like for like. This t-stat did not fire up nor did the heaters. Ordered another (different) Stelpro t-stat thinking it was the problem and same thing. Finally connected the heaters to straight line voltage and nothing. Stelpro support had no answers, my installing contractor was stumped and only thing we figure is they don't play well in the US (Stelpro is a Canadian Company). Was unable to return this t-stat because our Amazon return window expired. Our project was a condo rehab and by the time we got around to replacing the heaters....it was too late. Ended up re-installing the existing cadets....and they work fine. We bought these because we really like the "look" so kudos on styling, but if nothing works in the end there's really no point. Wasted over 2-weeks trying to get things working and convinced it's just bad product.

I found this thermostat easy to install, replacing an older bi-metal set-and-forget thermostat. I was seeking a thermostat which could be set to turn off (i.e., drop to a low temperature) at particular times. This device does that, hopefully saving me money when I don't need baseboard heating, and when I forget to turn it off. During the past several months of use it has been reliable. If there is a downside it's that the heater hums slightly when energized by the thermostat, and I'd prefer that the on-off cycling once the room is up to temperature to be less frequent - a very minor complaint.

I bought a 4,000 watt 240v fan-forced in-wall Cadet electric heater and wanted it to be controlled by a thermostat. Did my research on line voltage programmable units and decided to go with this Stelpro unit. It works as advertised and I'm very pleas with it. Easy to operate and program, we pretty much set it and forget it. I highly recommend the Stelpro STE402PWB+.

I was very leery when I bought this because there was no information available in my hours of searching the internet. I paid only $12 for it and really wish I had purchased another half dozen at that price. It is currently $54 and is acceptable at that price.
