Microsoft Word 2019 Step by Step

Been looking for an authoritative volume of WORD, not an abbreviated version of Office, for years. 630 pages cover everything from basic home use to professional publication incl. graphics, scientific, journalism, source for everything you might need. Sixteen chapters include complete graphics accompanying its text. I'm 79 and long since retired but this is the shelf reference I have wanted.

I purchased Word 2019 to format a novel. Apparently the older versions aren't quite as easy to use.I could buy book templates or even send the manuscript to a professional but I decided to knuckle down and design a template myself.( Haven't quite got there yet since I'm still writing).Formatting a book in Word is not as professional as Indesign but on the other hand, it's acceptable for POD. Especially of you don't have graphics.In Word you can do kerning and tracking and leading. That's really all you need for good typesetting.The problem I have with 2019 is that it's just too danged cluttered. I also have 2003 and it's nice and clean. But with 2019, when you open it up, you get a screenfull of crap. What is all this garbage all over the danged place? Just stop it!?Word 2003 opens with just a clean screen. Blank and ready to go. Nice and minimalist.

There are so many versions of Word, and this book doesn't mention that. The free online version should have been mentioned and features not available in free online version would have been helpful.I have Office 365 subscription so hopefully this book will help me make transition from older versions.When I taught computer classes, I created tables that showed differences between software versions. My students found them very helpful.

Ordered specifically for word 2019 however is not what my version of word 2019 is by any means. Very disappointed in micro-soft 2019 and this book.

This is one of the worst books I have ever purchased. The author rambles and skips around. All talk with little examples. Very disappointed. I don't review often, but had to say something. Do not purchase this book.

Examining Word functionality, and learning word functions and abilities was the primary use and this book serves this purpose well.

Great information

Purchased to update my Word knowledge. Assumes no prior knowledge of Word and covers many of the essentials as well as some more advanced tasks so is a useful reference for all. Comes with download able exercises to practice what is being taught and is where I feel the book falls down. The exercises for each topic are all at the end of the chapter rather than step-by-step as the topic is covered which I found inefficient as I had to refer back to the chapter to do certain parts of the exercise plus there was no illustration to check you have done the exercise properly. The book will help but practicing with your own docs may yield better results than the exercises can provide.

This is just what I was looking for . It covers the principles of Word from scratch and although quite a tome I would highly recommend it for anyone embarking on Word at beginner stage or who is past beginner but has been self taught like I have . I also loved the practice tasks at the end of each chapter which galvanises the learning from each chapter. I could not find any other book that had decent practice tasks in addition to the theory.Very pleased with this book

It complements the Microsoft help guides very well. I have achieved new things that have been alluding me for some time despite google etc. value for me!
