great product
A while ago I noticed that one of my dogs (we have 3), Maggie, had really bad breath. I looked at her gums and teeth, I then noticed her gums were inflamed, red, and bled easily. Her teeth had black and brown tarter on them. The tarter was especially noticeable on her canines. It also went about half way down the tooth. She is only 3 years old, so I was a bit surprised. I realized this must be painfully uncomfortable. Growing up we had many dogs but brushing the their teeth wasn't something I was taught to do. I thought "doggy breath" was normal. Turns out it isn't, and it can be costly to fix. It can also cause other complications affecting their kidneys, heart, liver and brain(just ask your vet!). After some research and reading reviews on this product I decided to try it. I'm very happy I did. After the first 3 days, her bad breath was gone. Now, three weeks later the visible plaque/tarter is 90% gone. Once I noticed some of the plaque coming off, I was able to remove the rest of it with a dental pick. When I did that, it flaked off almost in one piece on each tooth. Best of all she loves the "treats" and comes running when I open the bag. I mistakenly ordered the petite treats, not realizing that there are different sizes. The petite treats are for dogs under 11 lbs and she is 25 lbs. I didn't expect them to work as well because of that mistake, but they did! Even the petite treats seem pretty large to me. I had tried the "greenies" treats before, which none of my dogs liked. I'm very happy this is something they enjoy and the treats are good for their teeth. I just started giving my other two dogs these treats. I am breaking one in half and giving each of the other two dogs a half a treat (still petite size treat). One is a small 15 lb dog and the other 60 lbs. Both have had a great improvement in the appearance of their teeth and smell of their breath. I have not noticed any side effects or issues with digestion. I did pair this product with the 'Proden PlaqueOff Dental care for Dogs and Cats.' Which I sprinkle in Maggie's food in the morning. This is the link for that product, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047VWPNI/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00. I will definitely be ordering more C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews again! (this time the correct size) I hope this helps others!

Absolutely Fantastic Product!!!!
We have a seven year old Pekingese and she had really bad teeth, a lot of nasty buildup and her breath smelled like... well if you're looking for a product like this, you know. Last year, our Vet said we really needed to get her teeth cleaned and it was going to cost close to $400; not an cheap expense but something we were willing to live with to keep our pooch healthy. The Vet also said that the month of February is National Dog Teeth Cleaning Month or something like that and we could wait until then and get a discount (I didn't verify if there is a National Dog Teeth Cleaning Month). I looked at various different alternatives afterwards and decided to use this product and also a product called PetzLife Oral Care Spray. We used both for about 45 days before the dogs next Vet visit. The Vet said, "I don't know what you're doing to keep her teeth clean but keep doing what you're doing". That's all it took to have us sold. We gave her one of these treats once a day for the first 30 days and also used the spray every evening and kept her away from water for about 30 minutes. We still use the spray and she gets a treat about every other day. I don't know if she loves the spray but she tolerates it. She absolutely love the treats though. We're happy too; she can lick our face and we no longer worry about her breath smelling like... well if you're looking for a product like this, you know. Update - Our Peke is now 10 years old and although we did stop using the spray, we have given her the treats continuously since this post...probably spent well over what it would cost to get her teeth cleaned but she love those treats. I took her for a vet check-up about two weeks ago and he said there is no need to get her teeth cleaned and he was surprised that a 10 year old peke's teeth looked like they did without ever getting her teeth cleaned by a vet. We have three dogs now and they all love them and all their teeth are nice and clean!

Works great, but tastes like baking soda
Have a small pom I adopted from a shelter with less than pristine teeth. Despite my weekly brushing, his teeth have gotten worse, He seemed to enjoy the first one, but now would rather leave it or bury it than chew it, These are not his favorite for sure. I have overcome this by chewing on them myself before I give him one, which is how I know these sticks taste like baking soda or salty cardboard. No wonder he doesn't love them... but once I chew an end a bit, it's people food and he chews the whole thing like crazy. They definitely work! When I brush his teeth now, the brush turns brown or dark brown, which it never did before. There is no doubt the tarter on his teeth is being softened and loosened by these chews. This happens even when he did not have a chew before or even the day of brushing, so it is the tartar coming off and being "eaten" by the enzymes in these chews, not a discoloration from the chew itself. Even with his bad teeth, the buildup around his gums is lessening and there is no doubt these chews are the reason why. My dog will still need some expensive work at some point, but thanks to these chews I have more time, and for dogs whose teeth have not deteriorated as much, these may save them the need altogether. These are well worth more than their price. I have tried greenies and other dental chews but these are by far the most effective, the tarter literally is disintegrating. Picky dogs may not eat them, but they're not awful and whether you play psychology tricks or smear PB on them to make them more desirable, they are worth it. My mom's schnauzer loves them and needs no tricks to convince him, so it depends on the dog. It is imperative to give at least one a day, the tarter will only dissolve over time and if exposed to the enzymes in these chews consistently. If given daily, you will see results and I highly recommend them.

Please be sure you purchase the Correct chew for YOUR PUPPY/DOG weight!
Hi, This stuff works! But Please remember to follow the Weight size of your 4 legged child. If you give your pup a CET medication soak/spray chew you MAY BE Giving him/her TOO MUCH medication. Dog tartar/calulus just like human tartar and calulus and can be just as hard to clean off. Regular checkups for humans every six months with daily flossing and proper brushing (2-3 mins.) can control human tartar/calulus. It's way harder to do this for dogs. My dogs all love the CET toothpaste but liked the brushing less....usually, I got a doggie sneeze in my face....not good. The bacteria in a dog's mouth is very bad....actually so are humans. Chlorlexidine is used both for humans and dogs to control the oral flora (bacteria) that causes tartar/calulus (cement like deposit on the tooth). It works. Little dogs in particular; due to a tighter structure of the dogs cheeks, narrow mouth, some times a higher oral vault along the lips. Since the tartar/calulus usually happens with food remaining in the mouth which feeds the bacteria which will cause tartar/calulus along the cheek side of the teeth. You will notice NO tartar/calulus on the tongue side of the teeth. Doggie salvia usually keeps the tongue side of the teeth free of tartar....the teeth may be stained but NO tartar/calulus. The formulation for the doggie chews soaked or sprayed on the rawhide is formulated for doggies. Human formulation is an RX script with strict instruction of NO swallowing of the solution.....swish,swish,swish and spit! The formulation for the doggie chews is way less than the human and it's formulated for DOGS...not humans so Please if someone tastes this stuff....well...it's just not healthy for humans. For Dogs....my dogs all loved and love this stuff. The rawhide one is slightly better than the granulated one.....The granulated chew breaks apart more quickly. You have to remember if your dog chews this too fast the enzymatic formulation does not get to do it's job. I noticed that the rawhide one, makes my dog chew....chew...lick....chew some more....like a cigar after dinner....it gets better if the dog can slowly chew it. This is how the enzymatic oral chlorlexidine washes from the rawhide chew to the doggie salvia to the teeth and slowly works on the tartar/calulus. Does my pup chew other stuff....yes....Dogs just like to chew stuff. This stuff works....AS OF TODAY....my pup Has no tartar/calulus. I usually check my doggies teeth everyday to keep her use to me doing oral inspections on her. She still sneezes but I try to stay out of the spray. Please remember this is medication and follow the package instructions. For my Big Girl (Extra Large) size PLEASE! Her Big Fangs are NOW Clean! So cute when she smiles!
