CW-S Log Splitter 4-Way Cross Wedge

I have been splitting wood for 50 years. Added this tool recently and best money I have spent on a tool on a long time. One split, not threes and you have four pieces. Very efficient.

With a little grinding on the back of my Wen 6.5 ton wedge so it slides over the Wen splitter wedge easily, it works with my Wen 6.5 ton splitter. For me, not all rounds are suitable to use the Boss CW-S wedge. Anything larger than 10" diameter and the Wen struggles. The CW-S looks like it is built to last forever. No 4 way wedge is "approved and tested by Wen" It saves me time and gets the desired results.

This is a great concept, and for the most part, it works reasonably well. We found that it slips easily over the splitting wedge on the splitter, but also slips OFF very easily, when you are trying to split the wood! I guess if you cutting smaller pieces, it wouldn't be too bad, but we generally cut logs with a larger diameter, and it doesn't stay put.

This is sharp and well made. It can be handy to have around. The bad is that it lowers the capacity of your splitter considerably, something I failed to consider, so you can only use it on smaller logs or logs you have already split. It tends to work its way up and off the post and will sometimes pop off with lots of energy. (it can be dangerous). It needs some kind of retainer to make it stay in place and remove easily even if the logs are square. A set screw can be added but I find myself putting it on and then taking it off a lot. It is great for making kindling and may be worth it for that alone. I am using it on the Boss Industrial 7 ton splitter (awesome). Consider carefully if you really need this before spending you dollars.

I think it works great! Does exactly what it's supposed to do. I've split plenty of oak,cedar, hickory and maple with it. No issues . Worth the money !!

My husband was very disappointed with the piece. When this piece arrived in did not fit on the boss log splitter, the back edges on the splitter had to be ground down slightly to make it fit. After using it a few times the weld broke on the front edge, making it unusable. It broke on a piece of poplar, which isn't even a tough wood to split. Would not recommend

Great addition to the Boss Splitter. Love it that when applied to the wedge on the splitter, I can cut 4 wedges out of one 10” log. Fabulous. Saves me so much time and energy.
