I’m completely captivated...
Ok, this is pure beauty and genius. NO group has ever spoken to my soul the way Heilung has. I’m not just reviewing Futha, this is a body of work phenomenon. Close your eyes and let them take you to another time and place.

Moving and Inspiring
This music is just what I need, right when I need it. Beautiful and moving, thoughtful and deep. At times it can be jarring, and it always inspires me creatively. I haven't really heard music like this before, and Heilung has opened my eyes to a number of like-minded musical acts. I strongly recommend Heilung.

not what I was expecting
I'm not terribly familiar with the band and I bought this album on the strength of my enjoyment of "Norupo" and "Traust," which was a huge mistake because most of the album is Not Like Those Songs. I think it'll grow on me... but I'm not there yet.

Great album... but
I love this album. I listen to it on Spotify enough that I warranted buying it on vinyl for my collection. When it arrived... I noticed that both vinyls were side A/B. There was no C/D vinyl. So I reached out to Amazon and had them order me a replacement. It just arrived, and to my surprise... once again both vinyls are side A/B. I’m going to be reaching out to Amazon again... but I’m not hopeful that this will be resolved via Amazon. I may end up returning both and purchasing through some other vendor.

An Enriching Experience.
Recently discovered Heilung on YouTube, They have a very interesting sound. Their music is excellent, very different. The band's music is also very well crafted, with great attention to musical detail. There are times when Heilung gets a little too carried away with the spoken Pagan ritual aspects, but some adds to the experience. And, I believe that is the key reason for my enjoyment of Heilungs work. Their music can be mesmerizing, and takes you far away. Heilung's music is an enriching experience.

CD was OK. Not worth driving somewhere to return.
Another smashed CD case.

Another Great Album
Well there’s nothing on this album that is as amazing as Krigsgaldr, but there are some solid tracks. I like how they focused more on the womens vocals this time. And i love how they incorporated the sound of an arrow hitting a shield into the beat of one of the songs. I can still do without the “story telling” track. Between This and the other studio album you can mix together a solid cd full of visceral viking sound. This group really makes me mentally visualize being in dark ages northern europe.

Ancient
Pagan, tribal, primordial. Transports you to another world. Stirs something deep within.

Heilung go Futha
Ofnir set out Heilung's stall of creating their soundscapes of amplified history, setting the poems, spells and chants of an early time to the music of drums and voice. Their full scope can be seen in their live set in the dvd and cd of Lifa. Not so much a concert as a religious rite, their music reaches deep into an ancestral memory that you never knew you had.In Futha we can see Heilung reach new heights. It's perhaps a more musical album than its studio predecessor, but it loses nothing of Heilung's raw power and primal energy. It includes studio versions of live set favourites Othan and Hamrer Hippyer, both of which were featured on the Lifa album. I didn't think the live versions of these two could be bettered but I was wrong. Is it metal, folk, pysch or trance music? Its hard to tell, perhaps all of those genres at the same time; as if the band has tapped the wellspring of music's soul. Heilung educate you that music is everywhere, in the call of the raven, the howl of the wolf, the creak of ice and the crackle of fire. Astonishing stuff - 5 stars

Guess I'd better go see them live then
This is not normal music. This isn't really 'indie' level different, either. You're already aware of this. You're probably the sort of person who's already likely to buy this, given you are curious to see if they can produce more of the same. Kudos to you.How to describe it? "Wow," doesn't really convey it. I still don't really know what it all means, which is perhaps for the best. (I might not like to learn if they are actually telling me, "When Loki feasts on your father's ears / We will sing Happy Birthday.")Anyway, it's an incredible album -- and not a series of loosely connected singles -- that develops until you're not really sure what you are/were listening to. It leaves a lingering effect of some kind of inspiration or optimism or enhanced vitality... Translate their name if you don't know. Before you go back to YouTube to look at the wonderful comments, please buy the album. They deserve the cash, this is a phenomenally weird and wonderful work.

Strange folk music
I think this is folk music but could also be classed as world. An acquired taste but if you like your music different from mainstream pop this certainly fits the bill. Most of the tracks are percussion led and long, just as I like them, and really need to be listened to. The downside is being a live recording is that the audience can be intrusive at times but that is true of all live recordings so not really a criticism just an observation. Like Sigur Ros the language is unfathomable to me but that does not detract from the music. Certainly different
