Pak Mei Kung Fu: Martial Concepts & Training Methods

Finally a high quality source for Hakka kung fu
This is the first kung fu book where I could really find high quality concepts and theories on the Hakka approach. Rather than concentrating on images of fighting skills such as many other books, this one does an amazing job in going in depth on the Hakka concepts of internal power, the philosophy, and the Taoist approach. It's written in an easy and comfortable way of reading, and the chapters are organised in a consistent way, different than many other books of kung fu, where you can't really see the link between chapters.Highly recommended for the one looking for deep concepts of the Hakka kung fu and its philosophy.

Perfect if you are taking classes
If you are looking for a book to teach you Bak Mei this is not it. If you are taking classes this book will fill in all the gaps and assist in understanding what you are learning so much better. This goes indepth into what you need to know to move beyond the basics. The information definately helps you understand the foundational how and whys of Bak Mei and opens the door to easily move beyond.

Williy Pang's Pak Mei
The book is an excellent resource for those wanting to know about the history and execution of pak mei, as well as the intricacies of gung fu in general. His discussions of the various types of power used and how to exert it are found in few other texts on gung fu.I was slightly disappointed in the fact that there are no illustrations of key stances or techniques for pak mei. Given that this is considered a "forbidden" style in some lineages, I should not be surprised. If you are a practitioner of the art, this will be useful background. If you are a martial arts researcher, this book would be a valuable addition regarding a little known internal style from the south. If you want to learn pak mei, this book will only whet your appetite.

JUST THE BEST!
What a great book! I am very grateful that someone like Sifu Willy Pang has documented the history and traditions of this great system. By far Willy Pang has the best books on the subject. What dedication , honor, and respect for the art of Pak Mei. Truly keeping the system alive with his work. Thanks so much Sifu Willy Pang

Fantastic book for those who study the art.
As a practitioner of Pak Mei for many years it is great to find such a well rounded and organized summary and glossary of the art. It is not a how to manual by any means, but for those who study the art I could not suggest a better reference/ technical manual.

Words, Words, and more Words
This is the first book I have returned to Amazon.com. I was hoping to learn some kung fu basics about this art or perhaps a web site from the publisher where I can learn something new. There are many excellent martial arts books that I can choose from that discusses concepts, training methods in addition to martial instruction. The author's book is just words; in other words just words that describe a martial art. Most martial artists want to learn about another martial art, not a description of one. Words are plentiful on the Internet.

Detailed explanations
I have been doing Pak Mei Kung Fu for around a year and wanted to buy some books on the subject to deepen my knowledge of the subject. I found the book informative especially in regards to explanations of 'Ging' and the 6 powers required to generate this power. Would definitely recommend for other students of Cheung Lai Cheun Bak Mei Kung Fu.

Excellent
Really good book about Pak Mei; no photos, describes and explains the mechanics and insights of the style.

Sometimes one should look to another art to understand one's own.
A Wing Chunger myself I have often been mystified by my art and its concepts. This book gives an elaborate coverage of the traditional Chinese southern arts nature. as perceived from within. It probably helps that Pang lives in New York and thus spans the east and west.

¡Sin ilustraciones!
El libro no es que esté mal, o que la información no sea interesante, lo que falla en este libro es que sencillamente no viene ilustrado, y yo, personalmente, no concibo un libro de artes marciales sin ilustraciones.
