2008 digitally remastered two-fer from the ever-smiling pop duo featuring two albums on one shiny disc. Winning Combination and Goin' Coconuts (the soundtrack to their less-than-stellar motion picture of the same name) were both released in 1978. Includes the American hit singles '(You're My) Soul And Inspiration' and 'On the Shelf', both of which hit #38. Like all of the Osmonds-related reissues, this features original album artwork, pictures of related singles sleeves and great, detailed liner notes by Phil Hendriks. 7Ts.

LONG LOST GEMS!
"Winning Combination" is the best album that Donny and Marie ever made. Their voices fit incredibly well with the Holland/Dozier songs and production here. Non-Osmond fans, especially those who value the sounds of Motown and Invictus, should scoop this one up and discover what a masterpiece this album truly is. Seriously, it is IN-CRED-IB-BUL!!!! "Goin Coconuts," the second album on the disc, is probably the second best album Donny and Marie made. It is more of a hodge-podge of styles, yet like the selections on "Winning Combination," the songs fit Donny and Marie's voices well. Donny's take on The Fortunes' "Baby Now That I Found You" is excellent, and Marie covers Dusty Springfield with dignity and respect on "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me." The hit single from "Coconuts" was "On The Shelf," a breezy, disco-ish number that deserved a lot more attention than it got in the day. People perhaps failed to pay much attention to these two albums when they first came out due to a stupid and misguided belief that The Osmonds were nothing but manufactured bubblegum. How wrong that assumption was! The Osmonds were and still ARE among the most talented people in entertainment, and these two long unappreciated D&M albums prove what narrow minded people have missed out on for decades. LONG LOST GEMS! That is what these two albums, especially "Winning Combination," are.

Finally I got the full Goin' Coconuts album!
I've had both of these albums since I was a teenager and always loved Winning Combination, but when I received Goin' Coconuts as a Christmas gift, right after it was released, I was really disappointed because the first side of the album was pressed with an R & B artist (not sure who--Luthur Vandross, maybe), and I didn't want to return it to the store, so all these years I've had it--even managed to get the cover autographed by Donny and Marie a few years back. So when I saw it offered as a dual album CD I jumped on it and have really enjoyed it. Still haven't seen the movie though. :) It was great hearing Winning Combination again---I think that's one of their best. I still have to get a few more CD's to replace my vinyl albums, which I still have. Glad to know where I can get them!

Donny and Marie as I Remember Them
This is a duet that was big in the 1970's. I would watch their television show back then. I was a young airman in the Air Force back then. Now I did have the record album Goin' Cocunuts and somehow it was either lost or gotten rid of. There are some good songs on that album. When I saw the CD I had to have it. I have since played it and I am very happy with the item. Great songs and they are how I remembered them. Again Amazon did it's usual good job in getting the item to me in a timely manner. I used the fee free Super Saver shipping and had the item in a little over a week. Good job and thanks.

Sounds soooo good!!!
I am so glad that these albums have finally been released to CD. It sounds so good to hear these songs again. I may not be as elegant as some in their reviews of this cd but I just think that most of the songs are fantastic. I think that their voices sound good separately or together and of course, some of the songs are cheesy, but we are talking about the 70's. I think that this cd is really great. The only thing that I found wrong was that the last few songs on my cd are listed incorrectly on the cover. Other than that, I think the cover is good, the sound is good and so are Donny and Marie.

Glad I Bought This!
I don't think I'll buy the other Donny & Marie albums now available on CD, but I've been trying to get "On The Shelf" for a while. "Winning Combination" and "Goin'Coconuts" were my favorite D&M albums, so buying this CD seemed like a good idea. It was! I STILL don't like "You Never Can Tell," but I had forgotten how good these albums are! I have no regrets about this purchase.Unlike the reviewer who says the songs have been changed, I didn't hear a difference. There is a MAJOR improvement in the sound quality over that of the LP's, so maybe that is what the reviewer is referring to. The sound is now crystal clear.

Where's "Donald Clark Osmond" on CD
I was so glad to finally see Goin' Coconuts & Winning Combination available on CD after wearing my vinyl copies out. I'm so glad to finally see all of The Osmond catalog on CD, but where's the CD release for "Donald Clark Osmond". It's the only one that hasn't been released. Why? It's the most amazing solo album Donny has ever done and I'm hoping that the same company who put out this wonderful release will give Donald Clark Osmond the release it deserves!

At Long Last
It's really great that the Osmonds old albums are FINALLY available on CD. It's so cumbersome trying to make your own from records which are for the most part more than 30 years old! These are two of my favorite Donny and Marie albums because there are a couple of really dynamite songs on it, like Let's fall in Love and Winning Combination. Too bad I'm not rich I'd buy all the others!Rejane

osmond joy!
i always loved donnie & marie's tv variety show and this cd does not disappoint. i had heard the lp 30 yrs. ago and patiently waited for it to come out on cd. their version of "soul & inspiration" is really refreshing, and "i want to give you my everything" is a pleasant surprise. if you're an osmond fan at all, don't pass up this one. it's sure to give you joy.

Winning Combination - Goin Coconuts
I'm a life long Osmond fan gradually replacing my LPs (yes I still have them) with these excellent CDs. They are great value for money and if you like the Osmonds you will like the music. Winning Combination was one of the better Donny and Marie albums and it's good to hear it again. I didn't own Goin Coconuts on vinyl nor have I seen the film so that was a new one for me - haven't missed anything there in the last 40 or so years.
