It is the most durable hammer I've ever used. I've had many over strikes when I'm tired and not concentrating as well. It shows no signs of damage at all. I recommend you consider going with a slightly lighter hammer because of the extra pound of handle weight. I probably should have an 8lb instead of a 10 (getting old).
