Used it successfully on my DRZ400 RK520 chain. Trick: Hold with crescent wrench to keep it from twisting on the chain when squeezing link. Here's how it works: Sandwich chain link between lower and middle tool plates with grooves over pin ends. Screw in upper plate cap screws until flush with bottom plate. Used my own hex wrench with longer throw. Squeezes master link, o-rings and link top which stays in place when tool is removed to install clip. Make sure rounded end of clip points forward.

This is exactly the chain tool I wanted.The first one was lost in the mail. An email to the seller and I had a new one in days.

I own a typical Japanese sport bike with a #530 chain. I wanted to add some links to it and bought this tool to press on the new link's side plates, but the holes in the tool are way too big for the pins in my chain. The steel plates in the tool are not adjustable. This product might work on a Top Fuel Motorcycle chain, but not on a GSX-R1000. RATS!
