Large Cup/Bell Copper Rain Chain, 8-Feet

When I hired a contractor to replace my aging roof I also had him install new aluminum gutters. They looked great, but every time it rained I'd get a horrific gonging sound from one of the downspouts. It was so loud that I couldn't sleep through the racket. Sadly, no matter what we tried neither the contractor nor I could sufficiently dampen let alone fully remediate that noise. Sooo, this rain chain was plan B. Funny thing is, it should have been plan A...It looks great, was incredibly easy to install (I did it myself because the contractor wasn't available soon enough), and works very well. The attached pic was taken during an intense rainstorm. Even in heavy rain it functions flawlessly. Best of all it's nearly silent, with a soothing "bubbling brook" sort of noise in heavy rain. Probably not the best description, but it's light years from the horrible racket that the aluminum downspout used to make. It works best when the gutter and drain are directly aligned, but can be angled a bit if needed. I don't really need more of them, but might replace a couple other downspouts anyway just due to the aesthetic.I'm very, very happy with my purchase.

I was pleased with the quality and attractiveness of this chain. The copper was not at all flimsy and the piece has a good weight. This was my first attempt at installing a rain chain and I'm not sure I did it correctly. I cut a circle about 1.5 inches in diameter into the bottom of my gutter and inserted the v type hanger (supplied)then hung the chain from that. During a light rain it works wonderfully. In a deluge (Florida rain)too much water come out of the gutter opening filling the cups too rapidly so there is some splashing out of the cups. I'm certainly glad I got the chain with the large cups as I think smaller cups would not have worked at all in a heavy rain, but perhaps there is a better setup than mine. The folks who installed my gutters were impressed with the price of the chain. They even took a photo once it was up. I'm going to get another one for my home in KC.

Looks great. Easy to install. Works well. Fun to watch in the rain. We are glad we made this addition to our home.

When even my skeptical husband is impressed, it's a good buy. Despite the good descriptions, I was not sure how it would work for us. Well, each "cup" is about the size of a Japanese sake cup and solid enough that it does not bend/dent in when squeezed. Eight feet reached from our gutter to about a half-foot off the ground, so hubby had to wire the lowest cup to the ground so that the gusty winds would not whip the chain around. I'm glad I got the Gutter Adaptor also because it gave us an additional few inches of length. In the heaviest El Niño rains, the chain did not make any noise even when the cups were overwhelmed. It was actually quite mesmerizing to watch out the window!

I wish the cups were just a bit closer together and a bit wider for less splash, but this is still a great rain chain, and much better than the previous one I had. Would buy again

The installation went well. I had to cut a hole in the bottom of the gutter in my case at the end of gutter run. I installed a new plasting short downspout connecter. After bending the installation kit with pliers and bending back after putting in place it held up the bell cup chain fine. It worked best for me to hook up the seperate installation kit before installing in the gutter. We got our first real rain last night and it works very well even though there is splasing out side the bells. Very happy with the product and the price. Laurel MD

The product is as-described and one of the best prices I've seen. The copper is very cooper-like (obviously :) - which is good.The only con I've noticed is when it rains hard, the water escapes through the side holes in each of the cup, spilling over outside of the cups.

I had a wonky drain pipe that looked bad in pre-listing photos. I added this instead, my contractor cut a while in the gutter to add it. It looked beautiful!!! Sold my house right away, will buy one for my new place.
