Absolute Beginner's Cookbook, Revised 3rd Edition: Or How Long Do I Cook a 3 Minute Egg?

Love this cookbook. I got it for myself when I was 18 and just moved out and started cooking for the first time, and have now gotten my young adult lids each a copy as part of a house warming gift when they moved out. Even though they have been helping out cooking dinner for years, and know a lot if the basics to cooking, this has a lot of great recipes for their busy lives, and this way I know that they are getting real meals that aren't microwaved, frozen, or Mac and cheese and Romen noodles. I still use the pot roast recipe, and it has a great lasagne recipe that uses the normal noodles, but you don't have to book them first. There isn't a recipe that I didn't like, and they were all super easy to make, and fairly inexpensive too, which is great for their budgets. This should be a staple in every young adult, newly divorced dad, single mom, and culinary challenged persons book shelf. I give it as a gift to every young adult as a graduation present!

My grandson came for a visit with his Dad, and I noticed he was quite interested in cooking. He fixed us breakfast while he was here. I thought this might make a great gift for him. I have talked to him since and he says he likes it and has tried lots of the recipes. Who knows, maybe he will be a famous chef someday!!!

bought this for my husband who has never cooked in his life he really doesn't use it but I think when it strikes him to cook at least he has something to go to so he can learn by himself.

A great book for absolute novices. My wife was taken ill and I suddenly had to step up from washer-up to head cook and meal planner with no one to turn to or ask questions. Once the americism's had been translated to English, there was no problem.

I do not know anything abut the recipes in this book. I sent it as a gift to my daughter's fathers' new wife. Pretty thoughtful I thought. LOL. But I am sure the recipes are perfect for someone who doesn't know how to boil water.

I BOUGHT THIS BOOK FOR MY STEP-FATHER WHO IS 78 YEARS OLD.HE HAS NEVER COOKED (FROM THE OLD GENERATION). BUT MYMOTHER IS REALLY SICK SO HE TOOK OVER ALL OF HER DUTIES.HE USES IT ALL THE TIME. NO MORE FROZEN DINNERS, HE ISCOOKING REAL FOOD.

Destroyed my first copy w leak in kitchen so I replaced it love it.

bought this as a replacement, old one is worn out

Sent the book to university with my daughter. Theree were a lot of good recipes but no photos. Also because it is a paperback the pages were not as thick and sturdy as a regular cookbook.

I used this book (earlier edition) for years and had to get another one as the pages have fallen apart. Easy and tasty meals.

I can't cook to save my life but this book is so clear and straightforward, it covers so many different kinds of food, and the recipes are simple which means they're cheap too. High recommend
