Tunak Tunak Tun
To the listeners of Tunak Tunak Tun, Never before have I dedicated any developed portion of this site to the work of another man. However, I have witnessed genius in its purest form, and I feel it is my duty to spread this brilliance to all. Those who feel it might be somewhat odd that he sings these romantic lyrics of seduction to three clones of himself simply cannot appreciate nor fully comprehend the elevated thinking of Daler Mehndi. Be sure to learn the mesmerizing dance that is performed during the chorus, which includes holding the right hand over the heart and slowly lifting the left hand as if holding a glass of wine while, clapping three times, extending the left arm forward while pretending to swing a lasso with the right hand above the head, and finally clapping three more times, all while rhymically bouncing to the beat. Having experienced these four minutes and seventeen seconds of pure harmonic and visual bliss, I am rendered completely at a loss for words. I feel honored to experience creativity in its purest form, and I hope that this message of absolute enlightenment will spread throughout the globe. All the best,Timothy LeeP.S. Prince of the Punjab does it again.
The "Best Of" part of this album's title is no lie. For all those who have enjoyed Daler Mehndi in the past, you will understand that it is dangerous to listen to this album in the car. You are very likely to descend into a Bhangra frenzy and drive up a tree.Mehndi is a little poppy without being as slick and contrived as Sukhbir. Instead this album presents a bunch of songs which will appeal to Indians from the sub-continent and the diaspora, as well as to non-Indians. I watched my non-Indian friends fall in love with this album and attempt to grapple with Punjabi so they could sing along. That was worth the proce of the album alone! The stand out track is "Darbi rab rab kardi", otherwise known amongst non Punjabi speakers as the "Rubber Rubber song". This one is absolutely heart-attack central! "Dil mera nal nal nal" and "Bole ni bole" see Mehndi's full and glorious voice at its best, but if you feel like you just have to croon to your lover, you can't go past singing along to "Dum dum de". Again, best not to do this while driving. So, if you are a Mehndi fan, or a Bhangra fan in general, this album will certainly not disappoint. If, however, you are looking for an entree into Indian music and don't feel like the highbrow (and less danceable) Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, then have a go at this. No doubt, you will be up and dancing in no time.

Never loan this CD to anyone!
Love Daler, and love his music. This CD is one of my favorites. I loaned it to someone once, and never got it back! I had to wait a long time for this to come back in stock. It is well worth the wait, and just fabulous to listen to . It's impossible to sit still when Daler is singing, and as soon as I put this on, my cockatiel starts dancing around the top of her cage. Everyone loves the king of bhangra, whether they are animal or human. Give this to someone you love, but never lend it to anyone!
