I like that this book reads easily and to the point. There wasn't a lot of fluff and filler. The advice is good and somewhat timeless. I could easily skip over the parts that didn't apply to me such as hair coloring and go to the ones that I needed. I read it in its entirety first but I will g back and highlight the parts of particular interest to me. Great read.

I have followed Marie-Anne Lecoeur for a while on YouTube and enjoy her fashion and lifestyle suggestions. Though I do pick and choose what works for me, I found her book, How to Be Chick & Elegant, fits with my idea of a chic & elegant woman. My style may be different but I agree with her method. It's timelessness will be a good reference for years to come.

All right, so quite many things mentioned in this book will seem obvious or be well known already to a lot of readers. I guess.But it's a very good summary to safe, lasting choices, and sound advice.I already read "The little black book of style" and I didn't think they overlapped - both were interesting and brought good tips, which is what I wanted from this book.I'm a native French speaker and I thought the short quotes in French were hilarious - very "prim little lady" but to the point. (You're safe using them in public).

I was not planning to read this book cover to cover in one sitting, but I enjoyed it so much that I did exactly that.What I loved: Marie-Anne is intelligent, articulate, and knows and lives her topic. As a French woman, she observed all the nuances of the subtle, gorgeous, understated style that the whole world has admired as French chic. She was able to define, piece-by-piece, the layers and details that put together the polished, seamless look. And did so with brief, easy-to-understand points that one wants to try immediately! With my same wardrobe pieces, I am now wearing different combinations, colors, jewelry, scarves, shoes, and on a typical day am receiving compliments for my appearance. I love it! And I am taking Marie-Anne’s advice and setting aside wardrobe selections for the following day, so there is no delay in getting out the door. It’s a whole, new, world! This book is for all ages. I am closer to 70 than 60, and those who know me (family and friends and clients and co-workers) are commenting that I am looking more than a decade younger. Yes! To this book!

I tell young people, "How you dress tells the world how you feel about yourself & how you feel about the rest of the world; do with this information what you will, but you cannot deny that this is an irrefutable fact." Specific and concise, this short book gives excellent & timeless advice on what items to wear to present a chic and elegant And Beautiful appearance, a look that will make you appear that you respect yourself & feel good about yourself, a look that shows you have respect for other people & the events you attend, and a look that inspires others to have confidence in you & your choices, as well as inspiring others to have respect for you. Also gives advice on the most flattering shapes for different body types. One of the two best books on fashion I've ever read, the other being "Dress Your Best" by Kelly & London. Makes getting dressed every day simple & fun, and an uplifting experience: you know that you will always look beautiful and appropriate no matter where you go. Very highly recommended for all women, both young & old.

Not very large, but helpful.

I thought this brief but concise little book had a few valuable tips, several of which I hadn't known about. I bought it because as a performer, my look was dated and too overdone as I am older now and my skin and hair quality have changed.I was buying in to the high heels and shorter skirts idea (I had always worn maxis) and she almost had me until the last sentence:"Bringing a touch of elegance to our streets is a welcome change. It is to be hoped that, with this change, we will also see the return of respect toward women."So...women will get respect on the streets if they have had a recent salon trip and their pants are the right length with no lines showing and their nail polish is un-chipped? It'll cut down or rapes and muggings will it, because well-dressed women will be respected and left alone and those of us in baggy sweaters and thick cardigans will be the targets of attack - is this right?You know, I had always thought that more than a passing focus on this sort of thing was superficial except for women in the public eye, and now, after seeing that last remark, I am certain of it.

Love this book.It's full of handy hints and tips as to how to look more polished and elegantI love the way it's broken down into almost bullet points rather than big long chapters full of text you've to wade through.It's truly a book you can pick up and go to a particular section (say for example trousers) and read the bits in that section.A great buy in my opinion

Good book

I began following Marie-Anne on her popular YouTube channel a couple of months ago, and in doing so, I learned about her best selling books, and decided to read them! This book is very easy to read and concise. After watching the author on YouTube, I actually found myself reading this book with her voice in my head. I loved the book and happily recommend it! Merci!

So many tips and set out so easy to follow - Love it

Die Autorin reiht lediglich eine Alltagsweisheit an die andere. Dass es nicht elegant aussieht, wenn der Rock gerade einmal die Pobacken bedeckt und einem die Haare fettig ins Gesicht hängen, weiß wohl jede Frau auch ohne dieses Buch. Sehr ärgerlich ist der Tonfall: es ist ein vorwurfsvoller, fast schon aggressiver Fräulein-Rottenmeier-Stil, der ab und zu mal französische Klischee-Vokabeln wie "tres bien" etc. einfließen lässt. Von französischem Charme keine Spur. Ich konnte dieses oberflächlich und lieblos heruntergeschriebene Buch nicht zu Ende lesen, ich habe jedesmal schlechte Laune bekommen. Die meisten Kapitel habe ich aber kurz angelesen und kann deshalb sagen: Es wird nichts, aber auch gar nichts Wissenswertes verraten.
