Perfect 2 Piece
I purchased the two piece 7' M action rod for my recent trip up to the Boundary Waters. Having a two piece is extremely convenient for fishing up there since it doesn't take up so much room in an already packed out canoe (3 men and 4 hiking bags filled it up). It's nice to be able to break it down for portaging and also for lugging through the woods to some secret holes. Very durable I might add! This was purchased specifically as my go to casting rod up there. The 7 footer really slings lures out a mile, which is what I needed when fishing the bottom of some falls. Some of the spots required 60-80 yard casts and this rod had no issue delivering fish in the hard to reach areas. The action was all I could ask for - great feel and control considering its a two piece. Out of the 30 smallmouth and walleye caught on it, I think I lost 2 fish; there was plenty of backbone. Just take a look at the picture I posted of the monster smallmouth I caught with this rod! I had to steer it through rapids, drop the fish down from jumping, and then yank it up from the slippery rocks on the bottom. There was plenty of fineness too when jigging the boulder littered bottom for walleye. I lost a fraction of all the jigs my buddies lost that trip.Great all-purpose rod!

Very good rod
Lightweight easy casting rod, especially for the money. Only concern is that top section seems to twist and misalign rod eyes. Not been an issue so far.

Not Straight
Truth be told, I've yet to use this rod, as the salmon runs here in Alaska are over in my area. However, I've owned Ugly Stiks before and thoroughly enjoyed them while getting many years of good use. My problem with this one is that the top section is bent to the right. Well, not bent, but it has a noticeable curve beginning with the second eyelet of the top section. I noticed this as soon as I first put the rod together and looked down the rod to align the eyes. I own dozens of spinning and fly rods from Quantum to Okuma to Temple Fork to Orvis......all of which are straight as an arrow. This rod's top section should never made it past QA. Deep down inside I know it won't affect the terminal performance but on the surface it drives me nuts every time I hold it and see that right curve! I think I'll keep it, though, as it won't matter a bit in casting and landing fish. The fish certainly won't know they were taken with a flawed rod!

Tough and Affordable
I used this light rod primarily for porgy, flluke and sea bass fishing from the boat in eastern coast. Considering the cost and the toughness I won't find a alternative rod to this one, and Ugly stik is always the first choice when price is a major factor in your mind. It'd got a lot better if extra backbone is added, but for less than forty bucks, there's nothing more to expect and nothing at all to complain. Great Rod!

It's an Uglystik...
Cheap enough for one time use, getting new people into fishing, but being durable enough for normal use.Gripes:Sometimes you get one with a shoddy cork handle job where the edge is raised and rubs against your fingers and the inside of your thumb. All of the new ones seem to have poorly positioned lure stays that are on the side of the rod, instead of along the same side as the eyelets (like most fly rods), so your line can catch on it after a loose cast, which means you then have to un-catch the line or the feel of the line is ruined, and the line can fray, annoying enough for me to cut them off and ducttape the left over barb.Still 5/5 for the price, a classic rod that can take a lot of punishment.Wouldn't pay more than $45 for one though, they sell in most fishing shops for cheaper, even bass pro should be cheaper than that.

nice rod
My first time buying this brand. I tried out other ugly stik spinning rods and found this one to work the best for what I use it for.that is for mountain fishing around lakes and streams , for trout ,

Performence is flawless however out of the two rods ive ordered both had obvious deformation in the tip. Each tip was morphed left. I wonder if they are shiping rods that are seconds.

Excellent Rod
Very Nice rod, was very sensitive with my lures, I could feel them darting around in the water. As far as the Durability of this rod compared to the Ugly Stik regular, I am yet to tell as I've taken this rod fishing one time. Thus far I would recommend this rod to anyone.
