does anyone know the difference between the regular Block Surf Double Wrap Rack compared to the Block Wrap-Rax Deluxe double soft rack or which one is better? They both look identical. Thx!!!
Can you attach the straps to already existing longitudinal roof rails? Thanks.
Will these hold 2 paddleboards?
anyone use these with a 10 foot or larger SUP?

Great price, super functional.

Super easy to install, there are actually several YouTube videos that guide you step by step also. It was quite, strong, and so easy. I have a 2012 Nisan juke and the straps went on with enough room to go around my sun roof and in front of the roof antenna. They will be in the way of your sun visor because they go on the inside of your car and tall folks in the back seat maybe bothered by the straps in front of their face. I'm 5'9" and it was on level with my forehead in the back, not hitting my head but about 8 inches in front of it. My daughter is about 5'3" and it didn't bother her at all on a six hour drive. The racks held my 6'7" board and my 7', one on each side no problems. I couldn't open the hatchback with them on the roof but that has nothing to do with the design of the rack, I only add it as a warning.Overall very happy, great price, solid and easy to use. I felt very confident driving with the boards on top.Only drawback was the straps inside the car just under the headliner, and possible damage to the weather stripping with lots of use in the same place on the car.

Gets the job done

I just drove from Phoenix to San Clemente and back in my Mazda 3 with an 8' foam board, a 7'10" longboard, and a 6'7" board using these racks. I averaged around 70 mph. Once in San Clemente I also transported a 7'10" SUP several times. The SUP fit on the racks with another board next to it. Putting two SUPs wouldn't fit due to the width of the boards. Also, most SUPs would be too long for my car. Anything longer than 9' probably would be too long for my car since per the manufacturer's recommendation the boards shouldn't hang over more than 3'.The racks held the boards in place no problem. You'll notice quite a bit of movement from the boards as you drive at high speeds but this is only because the racks aren't fixed to the car. I noticed the racks slide back a few inches after a few hours but at no point was I concerned about losing the boards.Twist the straps to reduce vibration. It works. You could also place something between the straps and the car like a small piece of cardboard.Rain is only an issue if your vehicle is stationary. It rained on me on the way to CA but none got in the car.Set up is really simple and really fast. It takes about 5-10 minutes for me to put the racks and boards on my car. The latch mechanism works fine. If you want racks that don't use a latch mechanism then check out the FCS soft racks sold on Amazon. I didn't get the FCS racks because they don't hold as many boards.Bottom line: this is a cheap, secure way to move your boards around. I'll be using them again in the near future for trips to CA.

Surfboard Roof Racks

After almost 40 years, and thanks to pressure from a friend, I decided to take up surfing again. I'm using a long board (a combination of being over 60, and Florida waves led to this decision).Anyhow, I needed some way to get my surfboard home and then to the beach. I really didn't want to spend a huge sum of money on roof racks and these seemed to meet my needs. When they showed up, I opened the package and headed to the car. Putting them on was really quite easy. But, I have to be really careful on placement. I'm tall, and if the front rack is too far back, they do interfere with my headroom. Far enough forward, not a problem (though it took a little time to get used to the straps in my upper line of view; they don't block the view, they're just there). This of course, is because the straps securing the racks to the roof, run across the top, through the car. Haven't had anyone in the back seat yet, so that hasn't been a concern. I'm sure one day I'll find whether I need to reposition the back rack aw well. One thing I did notice that was a bit disconcerting at first, is that the board seems to bounce up and down once above about 50 mpg. I don't remember this happening back when I first surfed, but we had gutters and solid roof racks attached to those. These racks are a few inch thick foam so I can see how the board "bounces" rather than stays steady on solid mount racks. You get used to it. I may be able to stop this, at least somewhat, by repositioning the board, but I don't think so. But, like I said, you get used to it.The other thing is noise. I read about this in other reviews. Twisting the straps does alleviate the problem, but doesn't totally eliminate it, or at least I haven't done it.I debated on whether to give these racks a four or a five star rating, finally settling on a four. Why? Well, they do an excellent job of securing your board(s). I haven't had, and doubt I will have, more than two boards on the racks, but for two, they do a great job. So, for that reason I was going to give them a five. But, because of the straps somewhat interfering, the "bounce", and finally the noise, they're not perfect, so, I give them a four. But, if you're looking for a good, inexpensive way to transport your surfboard(s), I don't think you can go wrong. I would recommend them.

I have mixed feelings about this item.

Quality appears excellent, it works as promised, and installed easily and quickly. The problem is that, at least on my 2013 Fusion, the straps dump a ton of water into both the headliner and onto the seats & armrests if it rains. During a 50 mile test drive @hwy speeds with a surfboard on top it began to rain and I learned this the hard way. The board and rack were very stable though so dry weather users should be very happy with this system. But since my typical drive to the beach is 5 hrs each way it's highly likely I could ever avoid rain all the time. I will keep this item for other uses and on other vehicles but I've already picked out a roof rack system to attach to my Fusion for surfing trips. (Rhino-Rack RS 2500)
