Saving Frogs!
This was a replacement for my old one that I had for years. They really do work. When I lift the lid I find frogs hanging on for dear life. The only thing I'm not sure about is the size of the opening. My frogs seem to be too big to actually get out so I have to remember to check it daily so I can help them out. Seems to be that the hole could be larger. But before I used this I always found dead or dying frogs in the basket, now I never do.

No more dead frogs
The top doesn't fit flush on the skimmer opening, but that's not a big deal. There have not been any dead frogs since I put this in the pool!

It actually works
I wish I had known this product existed sooner. It was both sad and disgusting finding deceased frogs and toads in our skimmer baskets. I had cut down on the number of deaths by setting our pump so it didn't run at night and checking it first thing in the morning just before the pump turns on. Even the strongest swimmers drowned before I could rescue them if the pump came on even a few minutes before I checked the basket. The day after this arrived, I went outside just in time to see two little frogs climb out. Sadly, a third baby frog didn't find the ramp. It hasn't completely prevented all the drownings, but after heavy rains when the frogs all go swimming, it has cut down on the number or deaths dramatically. Placement seems to make a difference. I placed ours so the ladder ramp is nearest the skimmer entrance from the pool. It's pretty cool seeing frogs climb out and I've only found one deceased frog in that basket since it arrived and that was the basket closest to where they enter the pool. Prior to the Critter skimmer, I was removing 2-4 deceased frogs a day from that basket, so far, I've only found the one tiny one (knock wood). Based on other reviews, I was hesitant to purchase a second until I was sure the first one fit and worked. I'll gladly buy another.

Great product, find it cheaper somewhere else
I've used these for my inground pool for years and they work great! We live near a conservancy so we're always getting toads, frogs, and salamanders in our pool. After years of use, I needed to replace them this year. I'm giving this awesome 5 star product only 2 stars so you read my review and buy them somewhere else. I purchased one on March 28th for $34.93 which I think is a fair price, however, I meant to purchase two of them and when I went to order another one a couple of minutes ago the price was $56.33. WTH? It's been 10 days. Complete ripoff people, get them somewhere else.

Great product
At least you can give the critters a chance to get out. Nothing worse than opening up the skimmer to find a dead )_____(. This cover is well made and the top is very thick plastic. The little ladder fit perfectly on top the basket and the whole this is seamless. Get one. Its worth it.

Inexpensive way to care
I think the concept, of course, is wonderful and thoughtful. I wish the fittings were a little better; and the circumference is funky. Not a snug fit. But a nice, inexpensive, working solution nonetheless.

The dimensions shown are not what they sent me
You can clearly see in the picture from their listing that there are 2 different lids, one with screw holes and another without, but it’s only one listing. You can also see in the picture with the dimensions that it has holes. The dimensions in this listing were exactly what I was looking for but what I got was the other cover, the one without holes. It did not fit. What should’ve been 8-3/8” & 9-7/8” was delivered as 8-13/16” & 9-1/8”. Too bad, I was really looking forward to saving the lizards that ultimately end up dying in my skimmer basket.

Everyone who has a pool NEEDS this.
This item should be a required standard install for ALL pools. We installed a pool this spring and found the following in our skimmers over the first month: a mouse, spiders, frogs, toads, turtles (now our pets), lizards, and countless bugs. We were probably averaging 2 dead frogs/toads per day for several weeks. It smelled awful and was embarrassing due to the fact that our property backs up to a protected wetlands area. I searched for a solution and came across these.Well, they work. We've had one dead toad since we installed them over a month ago. That's it! bugs still die, but that's fine by me. I didn't want to kill the amphibians, mammals and reptiles.I highly, highly recommend this item. Also, I spray painted mine and it held the paint perfectly and looks great.
