MF Doom is the man in the iron mask. The most mysterious figure in hip-hop has also become one of the most popular, supplying beats and rhymes for Gorillaz, de la Soul, Madlib, Danger Mouse, and Wu-Tang Clan, and drawing praise from heavyweights like Just Blaze, Nas, and Mos Def. Since 2002, DOOM has released numerous volumes of Special Herbs, one of the longest-running instrumental series in hip-hop history. Now, the fifth and sixth volumes in the acclaimed series are available on vinyl for the first time in years. With obscure loops and dusty samples galore, Special Herbs Vol. 5 & 6 is a must-have for any DOOM fan or hip-hop head.

Bait and switch
They changed the photos after I purchased!!! Original post when I purchased had the original special herbs cover and once the item arrived it was the repress. I can’t get a refund because they arrived open as well.

Four Stars
I dislike paper inserts and that this series wasn't released as a gate fold, otherwise I dig it.

Great Deal!
The outside of the sleeve was slightly bent and damage but the record sounds great. Love all the Special Herbs and the amazon price and quick delivery for this item was great!

Perfect
In love with the music of DOOM and this is perfect for smoking music as well (wink wink). Quality wise it's brand spanking new and it sounds good on vinyl.....to me at least

Groovy, fun album
I've gradually gotten into the work of London-born MF Doom. This album, "Madvillainy" and his work with DJ Danger Mouse, "Dangerdoom" have been my introductions to his vast discography. So far, I've found his work to be both creative and innovative. In "Special Herbs, Vols. 7 & 8" he puts together a groovy blend of hip-hop beats and soul with a fun touch of chillout that remains timeless. It's an album you will probably be able to listen to without any problem 20 or 30 years from now.A definite five stars production, this album left me wanting to go back to hear more of the amazing music works by this hip-hop artist.

Get The Box Set instead
The Special Herbs collections are essentially instrumental-only tunes of what you have heard from MF DOOM / VIKTOR VAUGHN before and then some extra stuff that did not make it to the final cut and of course tunes that MF DOOM had being working on but had no place outside of an instrumental offering. Hence the name, Special Herbs! I would suggest that you search out a full MF DOOM collection and then get these supplements unless you are looking for instrumental-only hip-hop. If you are, then you have come to the right place.Special Herbs: The Box Set is Special Herbs vol. 0-9. You get all five double albums for the price of two albums. So it is much better value.

Nice album of just solid beats
Here is my Song by Song review of this new MF Doom album. The whole album is just beats by MF Doom."Safed Musli" has a sick beat as does the next track."Licorice" is a smooth track I forget who it was done by First."Sasparilla" is almost as good as the Previous one."Fo Ti" has some what of a Grimey beat.I have to ask why didnt MF do his own beats on Madvilliany.Every beat on here is Great for Freestyling or a joy for driving around the streets on a nice day. If your an MC get this
