Will these allow an r134 pump to vacuum down an r12 system and retain the ability to charge with r12 hoses

I used this to adapt an older R12 style vacuum pump to a 134a system. I think you're looking for the other way around.

The female end doesn't appear to have the post to open a shrader vavle on a residential male connection. What's up?

These are just adapters to convert one type of hose end fitting to another.

Do we have to install the schrader?

The Schrader valve is in the adapter when you receive it.
