Great educational entertainment
As a mom I can't say enough about this series. It is fantastic! My kids love to watch this show. I love the fact that it teaches positive character development (like caring for the feelings of others) as well as introducing children to Chinese language and culture. That is the main reason why I bought this series. If my children are going to watch TV, then I want that time to be as productive as possible. As for the show itself, the animation is good and the characters are adorable. In my opinon this show is well suited for kids age 6 and under although I'm sure kids older than that might like it, too. This cartoon is certainly not annoying like some of the other learning kid programs I have had to endure. Can you say, "backpack backpack" anyone? If you are a mom you know what I mean by that. And speaking of that, there are some silly pauses in the show where the kids are expected to talk to the TV, but there are not too many of those. My kids just ignore those parts.Overall, this series is great and I would recommend it to other parents who are looking for a show their kids will enjoy and learn from, too.

I love Kai-Lan!
How can you not like Kai-Lan for your toddler????? Kai-Lan is probably the sweetest, most compromising, loving character i've seen in soooo long! My 22 month old daughter even repeats the chinese (or mandarin) words when she says them. I know it doesn't make a difference, but we are not asian, and i thought my daughter (who is mixed with latino and black) needed some diversity in her cartoons. We have all the Yo Gabba Gabba dvds, Dora, Wow wow Wubbzy, Backyardigans and even sesame street. It's so cute that my daughter takes interest in other cultures, and my husband and i encourage our daughter to learn about different cultures at this young age so she can be prepared for school. But i believe Kai-Lan has taught my daughter a lot. Not just the language, but how to share, and how to cheer up your friends by being nice and compromising. Ahh, so refreshing to see shows like this. I wish i could rate it 100 stars.

Daughter loves it, Good lessons
My daughter (2 years old) absolutely lives this show. On Saturday morning when she is allowed to watch some cartoons it is usually her request upon getting out of bed.And the messages it teaches are usually good ones, with some reinforcement between different episodes even which I liked. When the characters are upset she will often join in the concern.Regarding the Chinese, my wife speaks mansion so our daughter gets significant Chinese outside of the show so I don't know of what she repeats from the show is purely from it or also from my wife. She will repeat the Chinese words and use them outside of the show.Recommend highly to anyone with young kids looking for something with good messages and some addicting tunes.

Great for Young Toddlers
My eighteen month old daughter occassionally wants to watch TV and this is a great age appropriate show for her. I like how it teaches some basic Chinese words and uses the same words across multiple episodes so you actually learn them. Plus the episodes are short (unlike Sesame Sheet, yeesh!). I've heard my daughter say grandpa in Chinese a few times now and she can participate in some of the interactive activities (like dancing or tickling the sun) with some encouragement. It's not painful for me to watch either.

another great kai-lan dvd
i have all of the kai-lan DVDs and this one doesnt disappoint .the carnival episode, wait ho ho wait episodes are great. the show is good in that there is always some kind of lesson such as patience, or fixing what you broke, helping out a friend. so there is entertainment but also shows your child what being a friend's about and being kind. kai lan and her tiger, monkey and koala bear go on many adventures, and her grandpa (yie yie) is also another great character in the show. 95% show is in English but they manage to put in a little mandarin chinese here and there, such as saying a word with them like "tiao" (jump) as the characters jump. it's a shame there arent anymore new episodes, we are big fans.

Wonderful Show!!!
My two year-old has been watching Ni Hao Kai-lan on the Kindle for a few weeks now. He can speak in full sentences most of the time but still occasionally babbles instead of using real words. The other day he was making a particularly long rant of nonsense words with his mother and she told him, "What are you saying? I don't speak Chinese." My son gave her a particularly impish grin and replied, "Ni hao!"I've seen other reviewers compare Ni Hao Kai-lan to Dora the Explorer, only in Chinese. I'd like to correct them; Ni Hao Kai-lan is WAAAAY better than Dora.

Love it!
Love watching these DVDs with my son. It will definitely help with me teaching him chinese at a young age. Chinese vocabulary well integrated into the show. Makes the words/phrases easy to remember!
