Great for the Price! Only one drawback
These are great little brushes for jazz and swing. Awesome for the price! They seem to be pretty sturdy. The only thing I dislike about them is that the wire do not retract all the way into the sheath so the ends stick up and if you put them in your stick bag the wrong way, the wires get bent. They are easily bent back but it's still a hassle.

Great sound, but that's subjective and depends on what you expect. But I like these better than the plastic ones for sure.
Great sound, but that's subjective and depends on what you expect. But I like these better than the plastic ones for sure. We've experienced no problems like some of the other reviewers. But no professional drummer here either. These are just for fun and for our purposes they work well. I like the sound.

These are worth it.
This is my first set of brushes. I am a film music composer, so I recently bought a drum set because there is a tone you can get from a live set that you can't from midi. I really like these, but they are quiet. Uber quiet. You could probably play a full set in an apartment with a complaint from the neighbors using these (I still wouldn't recommend it!).I would say that they seem to suck the individual timbre/tone out of each drum so that all the toms sound similar, unless you really smack them. That can be useful on some songs.Altogether for the price, you can't beat them. They are sturdy, don't fall apart, and great for a bedroom jam session because the volume is quiet.

Mediocre - recommended as beaters, or for beginning with brushes
These are fine (and only that.) I'd recommend them to someone who wants to try out brushes and see if they're something you'd like to use. Name-brand brushes are somewhat expensive, and I was leery about dropping $20 on a set without knowing what I really wanted out of a set of brushes, which brand, how big of a fan, etc.I bought these for use at church once a week. It's been close to a year now and they're in pretty much the same condition that they came in. However, I will add that when I use them, I'm playing very quietly in situations where music is merely background noise. There are times when I need to get quiet, and brushes fit the bill. I don't think these would hold up very well in a jazz setting. I've LIGHTLY played them for 10-15 minutes per week over the last year or so, for reference.Pro:CheapCon.Wires are very thin and flexible (read; cheap.) They've lasted a long while, but I play them sparingly and lightly. The thin wires make it hard to get a real substantial sound out of drums/cymbalsThey were frayed and the wires weren't in a consistent pattern upon arrivalThe brush doesn't fit inside the sleeve, so the tips are exposed and could be bent

Yes, they are wire brushes that retract. Success!
Good quality for the price. They would stack up against a high priced name brand brushes. They are good for a beginner and will probably last until he decides he actually is serious about this or not.

Great wire brushed for price.
Great for the price! I use them for a high school jazz band and the drummer does a number on sticks and brushes. These will hold up for the school year, but i'll have to buy another set next year.Should last awhile for experienced users.

Four Stars
Good brushes for the price but a bit flimsy.

Good for the price but don't expect long life.
These brush sticks broke within a month. As a caveat to my comment, I am a heavier player so they could have broken as a result of my playing style. Either way, I've had many other sets last much longer. Good for the price, but worth paying double to triple the price for double to triple the life, in my opinion.
