Is it awkward to turn dial?

No, the dial is very smooth and easy to turn. The timer turns easily and stops right where you want it to for accurate timing.

What are the measurements?

It's about 2.5-3 inches across, fits in the palm of your hand. I put mine on the side of the fridge, works great.

How loud is the alarm? I'm looking for something to time the warming of baby bottles and don't want something too jarring for late nights.

.....responding to the comment down below....the reason it doesn't ring if you set it less than ten minutes is that it isn't 'wound up' enough.....to set it for a small amount of time you just have to wind it past ten minutes first and then just wind it back to whatever amount of time you want. A lot of wind-up timers are like this. Since it doesn't use batteries, the 'power' comes from winding. i.e. turn the dial to 30 or 40 minutes and then just turn it down to the 3 or 4 minutes or whatever that you actually want. :)
