Worth every penny and you will be hooked.
More than a graphics novel it is funny and pointed look at the real issue we carry into and out of relationships. The art work is the best but the written takes it to 11.

Alan and Anne’s backstory
This was a fantastic look into Alan and Annie’s past relationships before they were with each other.I love seeing more of how Alan and ally experimented with each other and got to know their own kinks during college. Also seeing how Anne come out as bisexual was done so well. Another favorite part in this was seeing how Cassie and Tom met. Getting to see all the backstories for the characters from sunstone in a different way made this a wonderful graphic novelCwSexual content

Something special to me.
I got hooked on the concept alone of Sunstone. Two girls met online and connect through their love of BDSM. The next step is for them to meet, which progresses into a beautiful, sexy, risque (but I never felt pornographic) endeavor. I was invested from the beginning with these characters, These fictional people have depth to spare. They can be wonderful, and they can also cause unnecessary pain for those they care about, just like us real people. . These people wear masks, and not jut the kinky BDSM ones, Sunstone had a deep humanity to it's love story. The humanity comes from the characters and the love and energy the author put into this tale. Stjepan Sejic says Mercy is Sunstone's Lord of the Rings, if Sunstone was The Hobbit. There's a promise of something big there. And i could not possibly hold my excitement at the prospect of idea of sharing more time with all these characters that I love. The story of Mercy is mostly told in flashbacks through the point of view of Alan and Anne. We already know quite a bit of Alan's story from the previous volumes, but a lot of scenes were explored that in hindsight I never thought were necessary. But the truth is that the new old parts with Alan and Ally frame a whole lot of the general story, On to Anne. We know little about her from the previous books, and here we are given a whole lot. And all of plot/story involving her is a wonderfully written, funny, and emotionally moving as any other parts of Sunstone. This series fills me with joy, and I know it does to others. There's nothing like it, I think. If you've already read previous Sunstone volumes, you can't mix this. This isn't just a spin off. Its an expansion of a story that intertwines a lot of people. If you've never read Sunstone, and it seems interesting. Please, go for it. Things like this aren't made often. I'm sure you'll find yourself smiling at the pages just as I do all the time.

Sunstone part 2, now with 50% less Ally
After the end of volume 5 of Sunstone, author Stjepan Sejic decided to stop focusing and Ally and Lisa and focus on Alan and Anne. Both characters had hints about how complicated their backstories were in the original, and now this story will show them in full. The story is told in flashback style with Lisa interviewing Alan and Anne as they discuss they're college days. For Alan, he recounts when he was bullied by the rest of the student body after they found his fetish sketchbook, and how he eventually found a partner in Ally. For Anne, she recounts how she had an awakening at a metal concert, and ended up meeting Laura.Of the two stories, I definitely think Alan's was the best. He and Ally have an awkward chemistry that was hilarious to read and feels true to the previous five volumes. Anne and Laura romance, on the other hand, feels a bit forced, in the sense that they come off as too perfect for each other too quick. We know that they're going to break up eventually, and I don't see how it's going to happen in an organic way.

A perfect balance of sexy and funny
Like the first arc (Sunstone 1-5), Mercy v1 manages to expertly blend "hot and sexy" with "cringe-worthy because you've totally been there and done exactly that." (Some parts hit disturbingly close to home for me, in fact.) You can see real people doing the same dumb and/or mature and/or sexy things, and yet it's still fun to read about. While I am most drawn to the author's writing style and story, his artistic style is just as refined and appealing as in earlier chapters. Where nudity or partial nudity is shown, it's entirely reasonable in context (both story and visually) and sexy in a realistic way, not in a "huge bazongas and giant dicks" porny way. Some frames in particular manage to be extremely hot without even showing as much as a nipple, just from the setting, context, characters, and framing of the image. But there's plenty of nipples too if that's your thing.(For those who have read it, I'm referring to Ally on her knees when Alan gets back. Visuals: HOT. Character responses: Hilarious.)The whole series is worth reading, but you can also start just here if you prefer.

The untod stories finally revealed...
The six part of the Sunstone saga or the first of spinoff title mercy. Tells the stories of Anne and Alan who are main supportong characters in the first storyline of Ally and Lisa. Alan's story is about how he met Ally and how they shared their interest in BDSM together. Anne story is about journey of sexual identity of who she is as a person and what is she into. And her first encounter with a woman named Laura send her on that of self discovery. The relationships in these graphic novels are the best, if greatest depictions of how being close with someone can lead to a lot of bumps in the road to being better by each others sides. And sometimes we don't find the right one instantly, doesn't mean you stop searching. But the new storyline has me intrigued at how it will end or continue in the future.

So worth a look.
I confess I didn't want to read this because I'm such a fan of Ally and Lisa's story that I didn't want to deviate from it. After their story ended in book 5 I wasn't interested anymore. But after picking Mercy up and reading it I'm kicking myself for having such a narrow mindset. It's completely worth the read. The art is beyond beautiful as always, and the author again manages to create incredible scenes that span across two pages that manage to capture not just an entire room, but the entire range of emotion and feeling felt in that room at the same time. I know that sounds crazy, but..just check it out. The art does more justice than do my words.Although I'm only primarily interested in the lesbian arc of the story, the 'prequel' regarding Ally and Alan is just too adorable to pass up. It was touched upon in the previous novels but fleshed out here, and Stjepan manages to make their chemistry ooze out of the pages in a way very seldom seen.I know that the printed graphic novels have slightly better artwork than the free online versions, and I wholeheartedly suggest purchasing these to support the author. It's brilliant realistic work so seldom seen in BDSM fiction.Give it a try.

One of the best series ever?
This series has clearly gone under the radar when it comes to recognition within the industry as a whole. Perhaps because of the subject matter. But, it is my firm belief that Sunstone is as accomplished a series of graphic novels as Sandman, Preacher and any of the other series heralded as cutting edge within the medium. The depth of exploration of the characters is simply second to none, the artwork is nothing short of gorgeous and the whole 6 volumes hold together so well as one narrative.I read and have read many hundreds of graphic novels over the years and have never found a series with such strengths, yet understated and under-recognised for the gem it is.I hope that there is more to follow, but if not- thanks for the ride.

Stjepan Sejic at his (usual) best
When I heard Sunstone 6 would come out soon, I thought, ‘Good. Any excuse to read the first five books again is greatly appreciated.’ So, I read the whole saga, again. I was blown away, again. You know how you can watch movies like Casablanca over and over again? It’s the same with Sunstone. Apart from one detail. Compared to the characters in Sunstone, Bogart and Bergman have the sexual chemistry and energy of a pair of dead whelks. Was this new book as good as the older ones? That’s a bit like comparing two of your favourite songs by your favourite band. Still, I laughed, snorted and grinned as much this time round - and I teared up as much. I loved the characters as much. You will root for them as much as you may have impure thoughts about them... So yes, it’s good. Really, really good. Stjepan Sejic’s art work keeps getting better, it seems - and he’s as good a story slinger as that tall fellow with the Tower thing slings guns.

A beautiful continuation of Sunstone, just wish I'd bought the physical copy and not on Kindle
Once again Sejic delivers a stunningly gorgeous and scintillating piece of art work with the begins of a captivating story that I already love.I do wish that he would have continued Lisa and Aly's story from the first arc but hopefully in the future we might get another series. Now for why this didn't get five stars; simply put its a mess on my Kindle. Maybe that's because it's an older FireHD version but it would not let me switch to portrait mode and the zoom was rubbish on a number of the panels.Definitely recommended, just next time I will pay the extra 30p and wait for a delivery of a physical copy.

Funny and accurate BDSM
Like always with sunstone the art work is crisp, and detailed, the story is also funny and engaging. It's a really nice look on how Ally met Alan, and explores Lisa and Cassie's friendship, as well at Lisa first girlfriend. It covers BDSM really well, but would be just as enjoyable by someone not into kink, as it's hilarious. It covers loads of the screw ups done as a uni/collage student, and give subtle hints about the upcoming plot arks.Give it a try. 🙂
