Review: They Made Me An Offer I Couldn't Refuse. - This review is for, "The Godfather Collection" on BluRay. All white label with a blood stain and Francis Coppola signature on front. Here is the funny part. These 3 movies came out back in the '70's. I was in my 20's and I never went to see the Godfather. In fact, I never even watched it on HBO, and watching it on commercial TV would be a total waste as they would have censored 30% of it and removed another 10% for commercials. I saw the previews and thought it was just another mafia movie. So I never bothered. Then desertcart made me an offer I couldn't refuse. (Yah I know) LOL desertcart lowered the price to $25 for a digitally restored, 3 movie collection on BluRay. I had to give it a shot. The plots are somewhat typical mafia stuff from the dialog to the multiple brutal killings. But I have to say the actor rolls were chosen perfectly. Brando and Pacino as mafia Don's are top choices. The rest of the cast fit their rolls very well also. I was a little surprised that the dirty language was not nearly as bad as I thought it might be. I expected the "F" word every 10 seconds, but it was not used that way. But I guess they were aiming at a 1970's audience. I liked the first 2 movies best, but all 3 are worth watching. Now I want to discuss the technical aspects of these films. These movies were restored and remastered for both video and audio. I read a couple reviews that complained about the video quality. Their complaints were misjudgments and misunderstandings. Someone said the picture had scenes that looked slightly yellow. This is true but they are flashback segments only. They took place back in the 20' and 30's, and the tinting gave it an aged look. But the yellow tint is hardly noticeable. The rest of the films look great and normal. The video is truly clean and crisp in 1080p HD. The color is good and natural. There is no video noise or scratches. Video is stable with no jitter. In fact the video is so good, it looks like it was made with 21st century equipment. Quite impressive. The sound tracks are all in Dolby TrueHD. If you are picky about movie sound like I am, your jaw will drop a few times. There is a lot of very pretty orchestral background music throughout the films. Often, you get to hear it without talking. All of the music is very obviously in real 5.1 surround. The 5 channel separation stands out to the point that it will make you turn your head several times. The quality of the music is pristine in 5.1 surround. It puts you in the center of the orchestra pit. Very nice indeed. This collection is a must have if you liked The Godfather. Even if you are not a fan like I was, you will be a fan after watching them, like I am now. Well worth the quality and price. Review: EXCELLENT! - EXCELLENT!

The stories feel Real not fictional. Brando and Pacino are Perfectly Amazing.
1 and 2 are tremendous. But not perfect. If you read the book Lucca Brazzi is a powerful cold blooded killer—memorable. Not so much in the films. 1 and 2 are exceptional. It’s obvious the film maker is exceptional. The power of these films are A) the use of an array of talented character actors and B) clear motivations of all key figures and C) everyone loves a Great American Success Story!

PERFECT DUOLOGY, OKAY THIRD FILM
There is nothing more that needs to be said about these films. The first two are absolutely perfect and the third one is...ehhh. I re-purchased this Blu-ray set after having owned the original release (black slipcover), but unfortunately lost it during a move. Much to my surprise Paramount re-released the box set with this beautiful white slipcover. It was a no-brainer to buy it again.

Picture quality is great. No issues.
The movie you must own. I have it on VHS, I got in on regular DVD, and when I saw it was available for Blue Ray I needed to have it. Great price, no issues with playing, you get more options to choose how you want to watch it. Picture is clear.
