Works as advertised in 2017 MacBook Air
Works and fits well. I paired it with a Crucial 1TB SSD. Very easy install.

Works, but very restrictive as to what drives do work.
I originally purchased a PNY CS1030 500GB drive for this and it did not work. I know that was a dice roll. So I sent them back and ordered under advisement two WD Black SN750 SE drives (these are not the same as WD Black SN750 drives, the SE makes a difference and it's a different model number with most likely a different memory controller, it's listed as a Gen 4 drive and the normal SN750 is a Gen 3 drive). The WD drives did not work. I am going to probably bite the bullet and get two more expensive drives either the Gen 3 WD Black drives or some Samsung 870 or 970 drives. My rating is based on this: Technology is always changing and becoming more powerful or more efficient. The fact that this does not work with new more efficient and thus more cost-effective drives is annoying because it is more expensive to get the older drives that are more compatible. Taking a closer look at this device you realize it is all just a passthrough from a standard M.2 NVMe port to Mac's SSD port. There are no microcontrollers to do any assistance with passing data. This means that the macs that these work with are the limiting factor to what does and does not work. I wish the company that made these would put out a more extensive list as to what is and what is not compatible. I have seen people having success with drives that are not listed as compatible, but the list the company has through Amazon does not have those updated which is why I list tech support as not good.Hope this helps someone in the future. If you are going to use this, only get what they will for sure work.

The adaptor is 5 stars! Just a heads up if you bought WD Blue SSN550 for this one.
I bought this ssd (Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN550 NVMe Internal SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 2,400 MB/s - WDS500G2B0C) and this adapter:When I tried 'Internet Recovery' in my MacBook Air, the disc wasn't recognized at all so I thought something was wrong (Maybe the adapter or the ssd itself, I didn't knew).I had to go to a friend house that he has a MacBook Air Early 2017 and after we did the same, it was recognized as expected in the Disk Utility. I've formatted and installed Big Sur on my friend's laptop and then switched back the adaptor and the ssd to my Mac and everything works as expected. So the adapter works as a charm with WD Blue SSN550 but be aware that you may have to do some tricks.

Surprisingly, it actually works
I'm surprised to say, this adapter actually worked as advertised. I was skeptical mostly because I know how Apple likes to lock hardware things down. With that said, it works!I tried this unit in both a MacBook Pro and MacPro. In the MacBook Pro it worked great, the new drive was faster than the stock drive and, of course, was larger. When I moved the same drive into the MacPro, it became dramatically faster! This is obviously a response based on the machine architecture, but it was still very surprising to see. I averaged 120mb/s while restoring from TimeMachine backup. My computer starts up lightening fast and is a joy to use.Highly recommend for users needing a size/speed bump.

Helped give a 2014 Macbook Pro new life
I used this to add a 1 TB WD Black SN750 to my daughter's Macbook Pro. The adapter fit perfectly as intended. Once installed, I used a MacOs Big Sur bootable usb drive to format the 1 TB drive and install Big Sur. So far there have been no issues, like the dreaded sleep issue and the machine runs faster than before.

Works great. Easy install.
Bought two of these to upgrade early 2014 Mac airs, along with WD Black 1Tb nvme drives. Installation was straight forward and the adapters work as intended. Also haven’t experienced any sleep issues. The only issue I ran into was macos was extremely slow after cloning the drive, clean install and restoring from a time machine back up is definitely advised.

Easy to install
Worked great to install a 1 TB Samsung 870 evo m.2 in a MacBook air. I did it for a friend and I haven't heard her mention any problems thus far. Like others, I used time machine to back up the original apple/Samsung drive and then did a clean macos install and restore from thr time machine backup.

Good product with exception
Had a failed installation of SSD upgrade. The adapter fit well in 2015 Macbook Pro and new SSD fit well. The system knew a new drive was there. The exception was it did not fit external drive enclosure.A failed attempt to upgrade SSD.Yes, I would otherwise recommend this product.
