Calm Pet - Desensitizing Sounds for Animals, Volume 1 by Calmsound

I think that this could come in handy for many people with pets. However, my Chihuahua seems unafraid of all of the sounds and only gets distracted with a few of them (especially the barking dogs track). For my Chihuahua, therefore, we will use this as a way to introduce distracting sounds during our obedience training sessions. Many similar sounds can be found on places like YouTube and there are many that would come in handy that are not on here like public swimming pool sound effects. However, it is handy to have many in one place and ready to access without having to go online to do so. I would definitely recommend this to people even if they have dogs that do not have fear issues. It is useful to introduce the dog to a variety of sounds while working through obedience commands so that when they around the real thing it is less of a distraction for them. Though a person really still needs to work the dog around the live distraction as well if at all possible this is still a great starting place.

Worked Great!
LOVED IT! Sure it was a bit weird having random noises playing in my house all day for months... but it works!! I bought this album along with a few others and made a playlist for my new puppy hoping that it would help her become desensitized to strange/loud/scary noises as an adult. She is now 2 years old and not scared of anything! Storms, leaf blowers, vacuums, garbage disposal, lawn mowers, groomers tools... you name it! It's not a problem for her! She actually thinks these things are fun (which wasn't necessarily a good thing when it came to the chainsaw...). I would absolutely recommend this album to anyone with a new puppy to help them grow up without being frightened of noises or to any dogs who are nervous with strange sounds. Just play the album as background noise (quiet at first but turn it a little louder every few days) in the house and before you know it your dogs won't bat an eye to these sounds!

I guess its working
When I leave my pup home to go out to the store or to work, i turn this on while i'm gone and put it on looped playback. If anything, it's a lot of random noise that he knows where it's coming from so my hope is that 1. he's getting used to a lot of different sounds he will hear and 2. he won't bark a lot when he hears those sounds outside the house when he's alone. So far i randomly check in on him thru a remote camera that has a microphone and he's not been barking or fussing. I hope this continues but early results seem to be encouraging.

Was the best $20 I ever spent
Was the best $20 I ever spent. The first time I put the cd on (very quietly), my dog freaked out and it took hours for her to calm down again. Then, I started playing it at least once per day at an extremely low level. I played it from different areas of the house and gradually got louder. It is amazing that now she doesn't react at all, in fact as soon as I put it on she goes and lays down. She no longer reacts to loud noises like the door bell, car backfires, etc. I have even used the cd as a calming factor - she got a little worked up about some dogs going by our front door, so I put the cd on and she calmed down immediately. I play it a couple times a week now. We will see how the 4th of July goes.....

Great CD to desensitize puppies
This CD and another that is similar are terrific. Put it on low, increase the volume daily, puppy will notice but also notice that you do not seem to mind if there is "knocking at the door" or "cats howling", etc. I hope it translates to real world densitization- not sure yet, but I think it will. For sure, it desensitizes to noise on the CD.

I have a puppy with some fear issues because he wasn't socialized enough when he was young. This CD plays sounds that they will encounter in everyday life. When using this play it at a low volume at first and slowly increase the volume over time. Watch your dog's reaction and when the time comes that they don't display any concerns over the sounds, put it on your shelf and if you see any reaction to these sounds in real life at a later time, dig it out for a few sessions.

Cd is just ok if it will even play.
My breeder recommended it. First one I bought would not play in my CD player and played horribly on laptop. Amazon replaced it but second one was still not able to be played in CD player and would only play on laptop if I didn’t try to change tracks. But didn’t sound realistic at all

Was worth a try but wouldn't recommend or buy again
The dog is clever and will work out that the sound is coming from the CD player etc so will learn to associate the noise only with that area so severely limits its influence. Was worth a try but wouldn't recommend or buy again.
