Everyone needs to read this book
I read "Be Like Water" because of its high ratings, and because it was recommended to me based on my other martial art-related purchases. I'm no "martial artist." I study Jujitsu, and I love it, but I've discovered the need to deepen my studies, and most teachers (as dedicated as they are) just don't have the time or opportunity (or will) to discuss the internal shaping that must take place. I suspect a lot of people find it too "new age," too "mystical." But there is nothing mystical about physics, and that is what life - and learning a martial art - is all about. Life is about energy, how we feel it, how we direct it, how we control it. Cardillo offers very helpful explanations and stories from the dojo, and from every day life experiences, to illustrate ways to focus ourselves and live at peace with all that comes at us from day to day. The Resolutions concluding every chapter offer a list of ways we can take and keep control of our intentions, our actions, and our reactions. As a student of a martial art, and as a middle-aged mother and full-time employee, I need these very practical guidelines to remain calm, flexible, and reliable. To be like water.

Wonderful little book!
I loved the philosophy behind this clear like water, beautiful book. The title was off putting to me (Wisdom from the Martial Arts) until I read reviews and a sample.

Food For Thought....
As a practicing martial artist, I like to explore other thoughts and inspiration on all aspects of the arts. This book is a clear and easy read without being too heavy. I have found some inspiration in it and use it as part of a wide collection of theories, principles and thoughts on martial arts and living in general.

Helpful and relaxing.
This book can help anyone achieve inner peace and relieve stress. I haven't read the whole thing, but I'm enjoying it. Easy read. Good step by step explanations and examples to achieve goals.

Condition was good, but I did not feel it was very good
Would have said the book was in good condition, rather than very good. Must have been a gift to someone withwriting on the inside cover. Some pages folded on the top a little for references I guess.

Very cool
If you want to get into the spiritual aspect of martial arts this is a great book....it teaches you a lot about how to think and how to acquire you inner Chi. I love it so far and would recommend it to anyone interested in learning how to think more clearly.

Pretty good..not great...
This book reminds me of Joe Hyams Zen and the martial arts..but unfortunately not quite as good. Still a 3 to 4 star book though.

Very good for the martial art novice.
For anyone who has had a number of years in martial arts this book may not be for you. For the beginner on the other hand it would certainly be an interesting read and a way of putting into practice what you are learning into every day life.Even for the seasoned martial artist there were a few things to pick up on. A good read, and certainly worth the money.

Essential reading for the martial artist and for living life
The author takes some of the philosophy you may have heard and read before into some practical exercises for grounding yourself and 'going with the flow' in a way that promotes positivity. If you like Zen in the Martial Arts, you'll love this...
