aptX Bluetooth wireless audio. Wireless stream audio from your smartphone or tablet directly to the 450 with high–performance aptX Bluetooth built in. The aptX codec allows for CD–quality audio with aptX equipped smartphones, tablets or computers. Dialog up, commercials down. If you can't hear the actors, it's nearly impossible to follow the story. ZVOX engineered AccuVoice with delivers voices clearly and distinctly when your program is playing. Everyone knows how sponsors love to ludicrously raise the volume during commercial breaks. The SoundBase 450's Output Leveling feature reduces the commercial outburst, keeping the volume to a tolerable level. Big sound from a small console. Featuring three full–range speakers, high–output woofer and integrate amplification this one–piece system replaces the need for a separate AV Receiver and external speakers. There's no need to run unsightly wires around the room to generate room–filling surround. Plus, the SoundBase serves as a convenient pedestal for flat–panel TV sizes up to 55 inches. Since it can support up to 70 lbs, you can place the SoundBase 450 directly underneath your TV and without making extra room for it on your entertainment cabinet. Built with convenience in mind. You can connect iPod or portable player to available extra inputs for terrific sound. The display on the 450 lights up from behind the front cloth grille then disappears when not in use. And the 450 learns the commands of your TV remote, giving you one less clicker to keep track of. Cable or Satellite remote control–sensing circuitry powers the system on and off along with your TV.

Highest rated speaker I could find - and it delivers as advertised
Had to call tech support a couple of times, both of which got a fast pickup and a fast resolution. However, FYI, the unit may have one minor flaw, for which there is an easy workaround/fix.Last evening after a month of nonstop, flawless operation, I lost all sound, even thought the LED display was working. I thought it was cooked. Called tech support and he quickly picked up that the input had gotten changed from analog audio to bluetooth. He said "It happens all the time as people mistakenly hit the input button." However, in my case I knew I hadn't because I don't use th ZVOX remote. I had programed my universal remote to mimic most all of the ZVOX remote commands, but not the input button. So then the tech said, "You may have some remote commands that are close enough to trigger it." That's possible, but instinctively I doubt it. My suspicion is that there are certain power down situations that will trigger an input switch. In any event, if you lose all sound - check your input setting.

Accuvoice is great!
This was purchased to help someone who has difficulty understanding what is being said in a movie because of background noise. This sound bar has helped tremendously. The first movie we watched with the ZVOX he was able to understand everything that was going on.

Awesome, practical, and easy to setup and use.
The sound quality was great. The setup with the optical cable from my Sony TV was easy. With the push of a button on the remote control I can change the input from optical input to bluetooth if I want to listen to music from an apps on my phone such as Pandora, Spotify, or Amazon Music. It's an awesome sound bar.Update: After very light use of this sound bar for less than 2 months, it will not turn on at all.Update 2: Upon calling customer support at ZVOX, they were friendly, easy to get a real person on the phone, and quickly offered to replace my faulty unit at no cost. Really exceptional customer service re-earns a 5-star rating from me. I've had the replacement product for a while now and have not had any issues.

1st day: real good. One month later: Still real good! 5 months later: works nicely!
This after just one day of use: Arrived in perfect condition and in short time. Extremely easy to set up, although I had elevated the TV stand to accommodate the SoundBase between the TV legs. Connections were simple. Activation was almost intuitive, and interfacing with my Dish remote and my Nexus Bluetooth were both seamless. I intend to add to this review at a later time, after I've had the ZVOX SoundBase in use for a longer time. Like the speech enhancement feature and music sounds dramatically better. I bought this unit with my own funds and received nothing for this review. After more than 1 month: I am clam happy with this SoundBase 450. All of the features work very well, except that I just don't recognize a difference in the one function which is supposed to soften ads volume on the TV. Had just one issue where I could not get it to power up, but I discovered it was simply that the AC power cord had come unplugged at the power transformer during a relocation of the system. Discovered that the plug needs to be really plugged in firmly or it may come unplugged. After 5 months, it is still working nicely! Almost 8 mos. and all is well!

It definitely helps me hear dialogue clearer!
I am a 78 year old and for several years I have not been able to hear comfortably the dialogue from my favorite programs such as Masterpiece Theater. Shows with British accents were particularly difficult to hear. I tried several other hearing devices such as TV ears and other brands but so far this one works best in enhancing the dialogue and in bringing the dialogue to the forefront. I recommend this product.I just bought a 2nd 450 Zvox for my second TV set. What a pleasure to be able to hear dialogue clearlyagain!!!

Excellent choice for TV, movies and music
I bought a Samsung HW-KM36 soundbar and subwoofer set listed at $250 retail for $125 refurbished. They were better than the TV sound but both were small and tinny sounding. The ZVOX 450 was a closeout refurb at $175. The sound quality is far superior to the Samsung or what you'd heard out of most Bluetooth speakers such as the Amazon Echo. You cannot mount this on the wall. It's a fairly bulky base -- but that bulk gives you a decent sized woofer and a series of small speakers with the heft behind them to far outperform your average soundbar. It's not going to be a match for my big living room and home office surround sound setup but those cost multiples more and take up a lot more room. This is a great, affordable speaker for my bedroom TV and it was easy to pair with a spare phone using either Bluetooth or a cable. ZVOX provides very thorough instructions on how to program many common TV remotes. They have US-based support that was helpful in choosing between their soundbar and soundbase options. The 450 has been replaced by the 570, which is $299 typically and a couple of inches bigger than this. I think this is a steal and it's not going back!

Get a soundbase instead of sound bar for richer bass reflex.
Soundbase allows richer bass because of the volume of a tuned cavity inside MDF enclosure; simulated surround adjustable along with bass boost & treble refinement help shape the conjures of original audio content. LED TV sets atop in a solid wooden armoire = epic sound for programming. Special sound setting for speech based programs plus loud commercial compression execution are so - so. Overall great sound, easy to use, I call it a great value. Only con (from spouse) no visual indication if unit is on or off, goes to sleep. Only display is for a few seconds on changes to on/off, volume, input, mute, bass etc. Other than that it just sets there - just sound, I like that.

Great value
I'm not an audiophile so take my review for what it's worth. I was having difficulty hearing dialogue on my new flat screen TV. Seems the better the picture, the poorer the sound. Anyway this box has helped out quite a bit and at a much lower cost than competitors. I bought this after reading some consumer and industry reviews. It's a bit booming for my small bedroom but would probably be pretty awesome in a larger family room.
