Nice automatic door with some shortcomings.
I purchased the automatic Solo pet door as a solution to keep the cat in while allowing a puppy access into the back yard. So far, it does it's job well but only after a modification. The motor and reel system are mounted to the frame using rubber isolating dampeners which allowed the motor to slightly shift the pulley and wedge it into the door when in the fully up position. So, it would go up, but not always down. One morning, after a particularly cold night, I found the door wide open and the nearby water bowl inside my house was frozen and the cat was found outside. After this, I modded it by screwing in a block next to the motor bracket to limit how far it can flex over. This solved the problem and it hasn't happened again. That said, other than the motor bracket the door seems to be a nice product, but the customer shouldn't have to fix such a short coming in such an expensive consumer product and it's why I rated this as 4 stars instead of 5 stars that it could have been. As others have said, it can be subseptable to false triggers caused by metal moving nearby so I'd follow the manufacturers recommendations and never put it near something like a washer or dryer. I usually have a wire dog crate butted next to mine for puppy potty training purposes, and opening the steel crate door will usually trigger it to come open.

This door is the best!!
This product is amazing! I originally purchased the High tech pet door, which I do not recommend it had nothing but problems. The solo door operates with a magnetic collar which takes the worry out of it failing. I ordered 5 collars which all fails from hightech pet. This was a big concern as I live in the northeast US and it gets very cold. If the collar failed during the extreme cold my dogs could have froze to death. Solo is a bitMore expensive but 100% worth it! Dogs have been going in and out with out any issues. Just make sure you follow the directions for setting it up and once your dog gets used to it change to the recommended setting and the door should last a long time.

DO NOT PURCHASE
Simply put, this unit had problems from the start. The "policy" of Solo Pet Doors is simply, NO RETURNS. They however are happy to send out parts for you to fix it yourself. I have tried to return this item and NO RETURNS is always the response. If you are looking for a dog door that you will be repairing (even if it was delivered faulty) then this is your door. We removed this immediately after finding out from Solo Pet Doors that they were having issues with the controller unit and a new model was months away from production. It will go in the trash and I will let all my pet industry people know how Solo Pet Doors handles defective products.

Works great and was easy for her to learn
This is a must if you have a dog that goes in and out. Works great and was easy for her to learn, even as a puppy. The important thing is to put it at the correct height for when your dog is full grown. We made a little temporary ramp while our puppy was still growing. We've had it about a year and so far no problems. We ordered extra magnets so when "friends" come to visit, their dogs can use it as well.

Worth the price
Excellent product. Well made. Works well so far but we do not yet have much experience with it. The owner of the business was easy to work with and very cooperative in exchanging our original unit for another bigger one. Our fault as we selected the wrong size. Had we paid attention to sizing instructions the issue would not have happened.

Very well made unit.
Bit premature to comment on durability since I’ve only had it in and running for a week or so, but it seems rock solid.Company was quick to respond when I had an issue, missing a couple items (tags) in the shipment, which I really wasn’t after all. They were securely stowed with the unit. They were very courteous and professional. The unit works very well in all aspects.Just wish they made an RFID chip activated one for more security.

Love this - highly recommend it.
Works so great! We love it...I'd recommend. My husband installed it and it's water tight. He researched several brands and called the companies - felt most comfortable with spending the extra money to get a good produce.

Good Pet Door
The door works fairly well. I had to add two additional brackets to more securely adhere it to the door. The door opens and closes most of the time I am near it even though I don't have any magents on me. The door also stops working from time to time. I turn it off and then on again and it continues to work. We put magnets on our pet's collar and have had no issues. I don't know the long term quality since we have only used it since June 2015. As of right now I would recommend it.
