Highly recommended
Works flawlessly! Of course, the base station is only 125' away from the keypad. I set this unit up to be hard-wired for both power and to unlock the Gate (you can use 4x AA batteries for power and you can have it wirelessly unlock your gate). If you need more range for the intercom, the instructions outline how to extend the antenna using RG6 cable. The instructions are poorly written for powering this unit by the gate controller (not with AA batteries). It should state to connect this directly to the gate controller's battery (and that being non-polarity specific). It doesn't mention you can use the AC power from the gate controller, but on the silk-screen of the printed circuit board, it does AC or DC on there. I would highly recommend connecting this unit to the gate controller's battery instead of the AC charging circuit, just in case you have a power outage (assuming you're using the wall transformer to trickle charge your gate controller's battery), the keypad will still be powered off the battery. I'm worried that the keypad housing will deteriorate over time being out in the Hawaii sun. We'll see how long this unit will last.

The true range is only 50'!
The keypad entry works great, the intercom does not. They advertise up to 500' or crystal clear two-way communication, this is simply not true. After waiting on hold for 30min a tech support associate helped us get the intercom keypad and base to sync and verify that the equipment was in good working condition (but this was at less then 50'), as soon as we took it to the desired range of 200' the intercom stopped working. After waiting on hold for another 35min we finally got a tech, this tech told us it could be any number of reasons why the signal was being lost and that it doesn't always work. We have 200' of unobstructed line of sight between the keypad and the base, there should be no reason why this unit would't work.

This is a great product and has saved me a great deal of walking so far as I do not have to go all the way out to my gate to open it if I want to let someone in without giving out my gate code. The only downfall I see to the product is that the person still has to press the call button and then another random button after you grant permission in order for the gate to open. I wish that it had a button that would allow you to open the gate from the dock as it is still difficult to let people out of the gate once they are in. Otherwise, it's great!

Great product !
I have used these in the past, and they work great! Just make sure you divide the range they have listed, in half ! We have a straight-line view from the base station to the keypad, and it works great at a distance of about 250 ft. The only thing I wish they would change, is for the person inside to just hit one button to open the gate. Right now, as they are designed, you have to hit the "Grant Permission" button inside, then tell the person outside (via the intercom), to touch any button on the keypad ! The people outside cannot always hear, or understand, what we are trying to say ! But other than that, these work great !

Wireless Intercom/Keypad
I have been using this system for about a year. I use it to control access to a security gate(man-gate) in front of my home. The gate is located about 50 feet from the intercom unit. The intercom unit plugs into house power. The gate unit works off of a small 12-volt rechargable battery. I use an inexpensive solar cell array I purchased from Harbor Freight to recharge the battery. The alternative is to use the provided charger which requires 110 house power. The system works ok but one issue has made it difficult for visitors and me to use. The chief issue is that the intercom does not release the gate latch. It merely makes it possible for a visitor to press any key on the touchpad to release the lock. So you can't open the lock for someone. You have to push a botton and then tell the visitor to press any key over the intercom. Also the intercom does not enable the system unless someone calls on the intercom. So again you can't use the intercom to egress. Consequently you need a key or another button to open the gate from the inside. You will need some basic mechanical and electrical (handyman)skills to install the system. If this is not you than pay someone to do it for you. Also the volume at the keypad is good but the volume at the intercom is low making it difficult to hear your visitor.

OUT AT THE GATE
Well, have to admit, no one has had to sit out at the gate and wait for me to open it for them.. this thing works great.. one little item I would change would be the opening of the gate, I would put a button on the intercom that would open it from the house.. it works fine like it is, you just tell the person to press any number and the gate opens, but.. auto open button would be a plus..

My guess is that if you can get AM radio stations clearly inside your house this product might have a better chance of working f
Got to say we really did not want to order this after seeing all the mixed reviews. We have a less than 200' straight line of sight view from our gate opening to our house. The only way to find out for ourselves was to order this product. The "call" button worked but was very static sounding...... The intercom would not work at all unless we walked outside the house towards the gate. This product did not work for us!!! We have a brand new house which is stucco with LOTS of new high tech wiring which I think causes this product not to work. I can not even get any kind of reception for AM radio. My guess is that if you can get AM radio stations clearly inside your house this product might have a better chance of working for you I would not recommend this product at all.

I am disappointed since it does not transmit the voice to inside my house which is only 226 feet away. It also won't send the message to unlock so very disappointed not at all worth the trouble. I just don't have time to send it back. Maybe someone will contact me and let me send it as soon as I can.
