No, it seems to be just for looks in the design. It serves no purpose.

How do i getthe mounting screws that u did not inclulde as specified in the ordering detail?

To be honest I went to Home Depot and got inch and a half self tapping screws and they worked perfect and also put double sided tape first to hold it in place then put the screws
