My husband is a classically trained violinist, and I don't play a single instrument. He's always playing songs at my request, so this year for Christmas, I decided that I wanted to play a song for him. I initially wanted to learn on our piano, but it's so loud and right where he plays video games, so that wouldn't be a surprise. I asked one of his music friends what I could learn easily that would be a bit more covert, and he suggested the kalimba. I got this one because it was fairly inexpensive and had good feedback. It was all true! I practiced for about 30 minutes and got the base melody of "Can't help falling in love" down. Over the next week, I added in some harmonic flourishes. It was so easy! My husband was excited when he unwrapped it, but he was in tears when I played for him. I asked if it was still in tune (I'd been playing it a lot over those weeks) and he said it was! Overall, I had a great experience with this. The tabs were easy to learn, and I found a lot more online. I did find the little blue thumb guards unessecary, but nice to have. One note: don't wear rings while playing. They'll sometimes buzz against the box.

I have a kalimba I ordered from another company for my church that was twice the price and yet this one is by far both better sound and better craftsmanship. Comfortable to hold, actually came in almost perfect tune! I am not a kalimba player (as yet) but do play the piano which has made it awkward to learn. Kalimba keys are "C" in the center and then alternate left to right to left to right... to go up the scale. If you read music then you wonder how in the heck to read kalimba music. Once the light bulb in your head goes off it's a piece of cake! I love the sound! (have I told you yet what a beautiful sound it makes! LOL) The wood used is beautiful also. A great price for this instrument, great for a beginner or just to see if it is the right instrument for you.

For $8 it was a wonderful buy. It is easy to use and fun to fiddle with. There are apps and YT videos to help you tune it and tons of tutorials on how to play. Definitely a musical instrument that would be good for preteens.

I saw someone playing a kalimba and HAD to have one. Had a birthday coming up so I did lots of research before choosing one to buy. I was so excited to tell my boyfriend that I had found his gift to me! {hee, hee}One of the things I was a little worried about was seeing reviews that the smallest notes at each end didn't have the clear sound the bigger notes do. And while this is technically true, I don't feel it's a big problem because they are fine with a softer sound. It's really easy to play and sounds so beautiful. I suppose I might learn to play a song or two, but even not knowing any songs it's been so fun and relaxing to fiddle around with. Do yourself a favor and get one that is above toy-grade. This one is finely crafted and high quality and it shows.Bonus: My cats don't mind the kalimba; they do not like it when I practice the flute or piccolo. ♥

When I think of the kalimba, it always takes me back to elementary school when we had them in music class.This instrument is really nice - smooth finish and the tone is excellent. The top two notes don't ring out quite as much as the others, but that's to be expected as they are a much shorter key.Accessories were all included as advertised.Tuning was pretty much on out of the box. Maybe runs a little bit sharp, but was in tune with itself, so it played really nicely. If you're looking for an inexpensive way to get a little one started with music, this would be a great choice. If you're just looking for something fun to fiddle around with, grab one for yourself - I find it really relaxing to just sit and thumb around on it.

I had expected some nondescript packaging and an ok instrument. I have been pleasantly surprised!!! The box is beautiful from the initial Kalimba package to the sturdy and seemingly well crafted case. The Kalimba it's self is well crafted and beautiful! The sound is lovely and the metal keys seem thick enough to hold a note without tuning almost indefinitely, but are easy to press. I purchased this as a gift for my father, an avid musician and guy who has everything, and I am so excited to give it to him, he doesn't have one of these , yet.

La Kalimba suena bien, el material se siente de calidad además de que viene con el martillo afinador, una funda, una cadena, y un pequeño manual.Aunque el manual es muy básico, hay muchas tabs en internet para aprender lo que tú quieras.

The media could not be loaded.  La kalimba llegó en buen estado, con todos los accesorios que dice la descripción. Aún me falta afinarlo pero el sonido me parece muy lindo!

This is a present for someone else so I'll be focusing on how it came and how it looks. Which was great. The product looked so neat and clean, just like how it looked online. It looks like it's good quality from a view point. The packaging it came in was very secure, not the prettiest as it's just a white box but it wasn't dirty, wet or anything like that.
