Im size 33 and medium too tight in the crotch. It will feel better after swimming due to shrinkage...but better off getting the Large. Much more comfortable.

Maybe a bit snug. But I may be slimmer in my mind than in reality. But did the trick wearing nearly all day during scuba and on boat. Dry quickly and keep the boys in place.
