Respect.
This documentary offers great insight into the struggles of the Detroit Fire Department. The firefighters there are some tough dudes who try their hardest despite the organizational failures of the city and fire department. It was definitely worth the $3 rental fee and I found myself captivated by their story and struggles.

A great movie / documentary! You gotta see it to believe it!
An incredible documentary on a fire and EMS service in crisis in a former great American city ! I spent 34 years as a professional firefighter and the conditions that these heroic professionals in Detroit work in are appalling. Their new fire commissioner even has the audacity to rip into the line personnel for the city's failures. It is very hard for me to believe how more of them have not been killed working in the conditions that they do. They are clearly a very, very dedicated group of people. This movie ( that I believe to be more of a documentary ) that was created through the efforts of comedian Denis Leary, a ardent supporter of firefighters, demonstrates just where our country is heading and reinforces how the politicians no longer prioritize fire, police and EMS protection for its citizens. A very sad state of affairs. This is a must see for emergency service personnel! For even more on this topic check out "Charlie LeDuff" on You Tube.

Moving and heartfelt...
As the wife of a retired firefighter this was such a real and moving story. My husband was a firefighter for the city of Raleigh, NC for 32 years, viewing this real footage brought back so many memories, fears and tears. People seem to forget about the dangers a firefighter faces every day, they are the TRUE unsung hero! I breath a sigh of relief every day that he retired and only sustained minor injuries during his employment. It saddens me to think the firefighters of Detroit are being treated this way, how can you preform your job without the proper equipment, how is it your fault you don't have it? I did wonder what the new fire commissioners salary was as well as the rest of the city leaders, I bet the fire trucks in their neighborhood are in tip top shape!! I purchased the film for my husband who enjoyed it very much, also because a portion of the money go to the fire department.

Good documentary
For a documentary it’s really good, figured it would be super boring and not keep anyone entertained enough to watch it but my friends 3 year old was entertained with it enough to watch it all

My husband is a retired Detroit Firefighter.
We have a nephew who is still on the Dept . My husbands brother retired after 38yrs. fighting fires in Detroit , my husband & his bro. were both there in July of 1967 trying to keep the city from burning down & here we are almost 50yrs. later still trying to save that thankless city. Every one should see this DVD and be angry with a city that is trying to blame there problems on the retired police & fire pensions. They were earned, they are not an entitlement. There are people in that city getting far more in benefits for doing nothing .While these brave men may loose theres .Buy this DVD some of the money will go to buy equipment for the men still on the job . God bless them and keep them safe.

The best modern firefighter documentary out there
In the tradition of The Bronx is Burning and Brothers in Battle, Burn gives you a front row seat as you watch The Detroit Firefighters pour their lives and souls into their job for the city they protect

I wanted to like this movie so bad yet it just wasn't that ...
I wanted to like this movie so bad yet it just wasn't that great. Detroit on fire is free on youtube and has much of the same footage but is a better show. Burn made me feel so bad for Detroit firefighters and wish I could help them. They only have one busted 20 year old truck per crew. My little department it Utah gets a new top of the line truck every ten years and they are not used half as much as Detroit uses their trucks. Why does Detroit not support their firefighters?
