Great little clock! Very terrible instructions. I discovered actually usable instructions in the reviews for an identical clock at https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/RN7N1B8MSHYP3/ref=cm_cr_getr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B075V449V8Couple of other points:- Yes, you can set it to display just the clock.- Yes, using the instructions in the link, you will be able to change the brightness.- No, there is no AM/PM indicator.- USB or (3) AAA batteries. I don't believe you need those batteries if you're using USB. There is a button battery under the battery compartment that will keep the unit running if you loose USB power.- Yes, you can turn the display off, and bring it back to life by making a loud noise (like the famous Clapper) or by touching it. This is done through the energy saver function (see the link).- There's a very bright red LED in the upper left corner that indicated the unit is being powered by the USB. That's a nice feature, but you may find the LED bright enough to be annoying. I took a black Sharpie and dabbed at it a few times to dim it.

Couple things I really don't like about the clock, which aren't at all made clear in the description, is there's a hideous red light that turns on when it's plugged into wall/USB power (it only turns off when it's under battery power), which completely ruins the aesthetic. Secondly, the temperature only displays in celcius. Aside from those two things, which nearly ruin it IMO, it works fine. The instructions weren't hard at all to understand, so I'm not sure why others had issues with that. Just plug it in, hold the reset button down if all you see is the red light and then hold the set button down a few seconds. Then just step through each setting.

Instructions are seriously incomprehensible. After two of us working on it for two hours (I am not making this up), we by sheer luck got the thing to work and I was thrilled. It was exactly the minimal black box (with info) for which I had hoped.Fast forward two weeks. Black box sans info. Luckily it was trash day.

Finally got the time set but gave up on the other features and I needed a magnifying glass to read the instructions.

Very tedious to set up and I don’t really like readying military time and i dont know how to turn that off or if it even does

Can’t figure out how to set this clock up! It keeps going to 12:00... temperature is not accurate... my son threw away the manual and can’t find anything on YouTube for this exact model. Not worth it.

The only dislike is that the directions didn't come in English - had to search others reviews to figure them out.

Replaced one that was getting 4 minutes slower a week
