Alsons 3401CPK Adjustable Shower Arm Mount, Chrome

This is a nice product....even though I expected the shower wand socket to be metal, it is chromed plastic. The socket area seems to be adequately strong and while it doesn't hold our Grohe wand as snugly as the Grohe arm mount this item is replacing, it's grip is adequate to keep the shower head from wandering from where we want it.A big disappointment is that the range of adjust-ability is more limited than our old Grohe arm mount. We have a "straight" shower arm which was perfect for the Grohe setup.(the pipe that comes out of the wall is straight, not slightly curved down), This means that we are unable to direct the shower stream downward as much as we want. We either have to install a curved shower arm or return this arm and buy an adjustable Grohe.... so much for trying to save a few bucks... :-).

While looking for a mount, I became concerned with negative reviews of other mounts (specifically one for the LED SHOWER). This one is not plastic, it is chrome. It does not leak (I did use teflon tape to attach it to the wall arm). As far as I can tell, it won't crack, just --with most shower heads-- lift up instead of trying to pull straight out. Perfect fit for my LED SHOWER and (I highly recommend the INOX EXTRA LONG STAINLESS STEEL) shower hose. I'm only plugging the other products because very rarely do I by 3 separate parts (for plumbing no less!) and install takes 5 minutes total! Very pleased. = )

This adjustable shower arm mount is very difficult to find in local home improvement stores. Prior to installation, I removed the internal low flow inserts and filters. This opens up the flow rate and pressure and provides a much more satisfying shower - especially in low water pressure areas. The ears that hold the shower wand can be broken with considerable force so I keep a spare on hand. This happens when somebody in the house gets clumsy and pulls the shower wand straight out instead of lifting the wand up and out of the socket.

Bought to replace a shower arm mount that no longer held the shower head up. Seems to be a little more sturdy than the one I replaced. Time will tell.

1 of the reviews is misleading. Only the ball part which connect to the pipe is metal; the rests are all chrome plated plastic parts, which often cracks and leaks. This Delta brand spare part can be purchase cheaper at Lowe's.
