15 1/2 inches tall by 9 1/2 inches interior . Remember, on both sides of the interior are ridges to accondate the plate which you insert to hold the food you are brining submerged.

Yes, each container has a top enclosing lid as well as the inner piece which keeps the meat submerged in the brine.

Can this be used for pickling?

I would imagine it could. The lid would either seal real well or not quite good enough, haven't paid attention to that. Depends if you wanted it opened to the air or if you wanted a airlock to be used.
