Beekeepers want this one!
A good value. Easy to read scale makes this device indispensable in measuring hydration of honey. We found a lot of uncapped honey that was well below the cut off for fermentation. A must have for extracting honey.Added two years after purchase: We have had the opportunity to compare this (less expensive) unit with other units, and it is remarkably consistent in performance and consistent with other units. We now have more confidence in what it is telling us about moisture levels in our honey.

Cheap
First thing out of the box I tried to calibrate it with distilled water. The adjustment screw broke off on the first turn. If it weren't for that, and if it could be calibrated properly, it would be just fine. I had to use some honey that I already knew was at least under 18% as a baseline, and anything above I had to consider too wet and anything below was good. Luckily, all the honey I had to test that day was below the baseline. Hopefully I just got a lemon. I will probably spend a bit more next season and get a better one.

The wrong scale is advertised
The title says 0-90% Brix but the scale is actually 58%-90% so a bit disappointing!

Excellent device with good price
Very convenient and useful device. Easy to use it, exact and clear reading of the results. Batteries are not required. Great value for money indeed.

It didn't come with calibration liquid, and therefore I can't use it!

Accurate, clear, easy to see and use
This refractometer is being used for measuring honey moisture content. We calibrated it with olive oil with great results and consistent measurement across different bottles of honey from the same source. Works great and it's very easy to read

Great value
The instructions are not great but once i figured out that I should use the included reference brick instead of distilled water I was able to get it calibrated.Measuring the water content in my honey was super easy.The price is great compared to the ones that are for sale from the big beekeeping suppliers, the only problem I had with it is that the dioptric oil smells terrible, but that is only a problem when you calibrate it.

i have used this unit to check the water content in my honey this past season , it preformed just as well as the 90.00 + $ ones did . great item .
