Endureglass 1.5 L Glass Cookware

Great vessel for the microwave addicted
I like the idea of using heat tolerant glass especially after having a cheap glass coffee mug break when I poured hot coffee into it -- I didn't think the temperature differential was that great, but apparently it was. I'm sure that with the Endureglass I will not have that problem. Endureglass appears to be similar to, if not identical to Corning's Visions cookware. Being able to use it on a stove top burner is not a feature I will use often, but it is reassuring to know that it gives me a greater margin of error in what I do when heating food. Also, unlike metal cookware this can be used in a microwave oven and that is my primary reason for buying this. While I have a couple of small Visions saucepans, they have long handles and just barely fit in my microwave without bumping the sides of the oven. Larger saucepans with their longer handles would be unusable in a microwave. This dish has shorter handles and fits nicely into my microwave oven. So far I am liking it a lot.For a Consumer Reports article on proper use of glass cookware search on "Glass bakeware that shatters".UPDATE: In trying to find out if Endureglass and Corning's Visions cookware were related I came across an account of a man who sued Corning after his Visions pan exploded. The grounds for the suit were that the warnings about the use of the cookware were inadequate. Apparently, if the cookware is dropped or banged it could explode. To see the story search on "Consumers being warned about dangers of glass cookware ". Hmmm...I just looked for the instructions, if any, that came with my Endureglass and could not find any. I do know that if Pyrex cookware is abused by subjecting it to rapid temperature changes it is not designed for it will set up stresses in the glass that Corning can detect. I am going to search now for any instructions regarding Endureglass and Visions.

The only draw back is that is appears to have a chipped center surface that looks like glass flaking due to the heat and thinner
It was thinner than I expected but really performs well. The only draw back is that is appears to have a chipped center surface that looks like glass flaking due to the heat and thinner surface material. I often think it's caked on food that I wasn't able to scrub off but it is appears to be a change in the surface of the glass from the heat. I can't tell one way or the other. But I do love how quickly it cooks the meal and preserves the flavor. But again the effects on my health and ingesting any micro glass chips is what concerns me the most. I am looking to purchase another type of pot just to be safe.
