Let there be music out back!
These are the perfect little black speakers to tuck into the corners of the back patio and are weatherproof, so you can have music all year long. The cost is reasonable, the sound quality is good (better than I expected), and they can take some volume before it distorts.

Great speaker for the price!
For the price, this really is a great little speaker. I run patio speakers in the back of my Jeep so I can open the tailgate and flip them out to play tunes when I am camping/working on my "up north" property. The all-weather design leaves me with no concerns if it rains. If I am staying up there for more than a couple of days, I even hang them in the trees and run speaker wire back to the Jeep. I purchased these as a downgrade from my Klipsch KHO-7 pair, simply because they were too big and got in the way when I am loaded down with gear. They sound pretty good. The highs are clear and crisp without being too bright. The mids were a tad strong and "squawky" at first, but I was able to correct with an EQ adjustment. Bass lines are strong, but don't expect to be blown out of you seat with a 4.5" woofer. I can't speak of deep bass, as my sub woofer takes over at 120Hz. The sub is another reason for the downgrade from the Klipsch's - there really wasn't much need for a large enclosure when the sub takes all the big hits. They are being driven by a 250w amp, which is probably realistically a 150w amp that I only use 100w of at peak. They take the power fine, but do of course have a limit before they distort if I really try and push them That limit is beyond my useful range anyway. They are loud enough that they become uncomfortable after a few song up close, and project enough that I can hear the tunes clearly on the front 5 acres of my property. Overall, and considering the price, they are a surprisingly comparable to the Klipsch's in sound quality. While they do project well on my wooded lot, I have to give that win to the Klipsch’s and their horn-loaded tweeter. In closing, these were well worth the $50. With the abuse these see in the way of being bounced around in the Jeep, I expect to get 2-3 years out of them. If they fall short of that, I will update here as long as Amazon will let me….

Work well in a portable backyard theater setup.
I purchased 3 sets of these of these speakers to set up a 5.1 channel portable backyard theater sound system. For my use they are perfectly adequate and at the price offered, allowed me to set up 5.1 channel system rather than a more traditional 2.1 system. I have the speakers mounted on home built stands based on 2x2x36" metal fence posts mounted to 8x8x2" paver bricks, which allows for a good balance of stability vs portability/easy storage. The speakers are connected to a Sony STR-DH740 receiver with 14 GA low voltage outdoor wire and inexpensive banana plugs. The low end is supplemented with a BIC PL-200 subwoofer. Given the low price of these speakers, I am satisfied. The sound is more than adequate for my intended purpose and they can reach higher than comfortable listening volume without objectionable distortion. The spring loaded wire connectors are cheaper than average and require some finesse to hold the admittedly larger than recommended 14 GA wire. If the speaker is moved relative to the wire, it is likely that they would become disconnected. In an attempt to possibly change the wire connectors to something better, I disassembled one of the speakers only to find that the existing terminal is soldered on and epoxied into place. Changing it out would require cutting the internal driver leads and modification to the speaker housing. For the time being I'll leave them as they are and see how the current connections hold up. Internally, the speakers leave a bit to be desired. There is no crossover to speak of. One capacitor is used as a rudimentary crossover between the tweeter and 2 1/2" driver, while the 4" driver is simply wired in parallel with the other 2 drivers. This wiring likely contributes to the relatively high impedance of these speakers. Driver quality is about what one would expect from speakers at this price point. I was surprised and pleased to see a bit of fiber fill in the speaker housing. As I store these speakers out of the elements when not in use, I can't comment on how well they handle the weather, but they do seem relatively well sealed against the elements. For regular, daily usage, I would probably step up to the Yamaha's at roughly twice the price. For my occasional usage, however, they are more than adequate.

I did a comparison of this Dual with an Energy, Boston Acoutics and Pyle speakers.
This speakers' performance came as a complete surprise to me. But, first of all, kudos to the Lepai 2020. I had to return and reorder this amp two times before I got a non defective one. Usually, I would give up after the first reorder but the overwhelmingly favorable Lepai reviews forced me to keep trying. I used this amp for all the speakers and it performed very well indeed. I did compare this amp with a Pyle 40 watt amp on some of the speakers (where specs called for more power - but, at room listening levels the Lepai's performance was up to the task. Note - I mention all this because the Dual speakers may also require return due to the same kind of sloppy manufacturing you can expect from from China. However, unlike my experience with the Lepai, I got a perfect pair on the first order (others have complained about quality in their reviews of the Dual). Now on to the speaker comparison. - The first speaker is an indoor/outdoor Energy that cost me over $150 for the pair. The Energy's were warmer but the Dual was cleaner and provided excellent voice reproduction. In fact, I tried some English movie and was able to finally distinguish the dialogue. Therefore, I decided to use the Dual speakers along with an small subwoofer for my small movie room. Wow, good sound and clear dialogue. Yes - the Dual can be valuable as an indoor speaker when used this way. - Next came the bookshelf Boston Acoustics At about $180. These are small and entry level Boston Acoustics speakers. They do provide outstanding bass for their size. But, mid and high range was better with the Dual. - I also compared the Pyle mini cube speaker which are the smallest and cheapest speakers. They are about $18 and are great for very small spaces but have almost no bass (not surprising for their size). In all considerations, the Dual was better - again not surprising. The conclusion - I do not believe that at $30 you will find a better speaker than the Dual LU43PB.

Your only option for inexpensive outdoor speakers that sound decent
Decent speakers for the money. I replaced some old KLH speakers that were comparable to these, they were really old as in 1990's old, but I had only used them since 2004. I was lucky and was able to use the existing KLH mounting brackets so that made installation a breeze. Anyway, for an inexpensive set of outdoor speakers these are pretty much your only option and they are worth it. Next step up would be the yamaha or Klipsch which run around $100 or a little less. The weak point of these speakers are the spring loaded wire terminals. In my opinion I think they should have made them just a little more robust. The clips are spring loaded, and if you are not careful, the terminal button will pop out. It's easy to put it back in, so not all is lost if this happens. Some suggestions when you hook them up: 1) Strip the speaker wire a little long. The way the spring clips work is they just push the wire in the opposite directions of the spring tension, and hope that the wire touches the metal conductor on the other side. If you don't have enough exposed wire, it won't get a good connection. 2) Be very gentle when opening and handling the spring clip while inserting the speaker wire. The spring clips are somewhat fragile in the sense that they are not a robust design (without calling them cheap). If you are careful, it will work. Final thoughts: the speakers sound good. For the money, you get what you paid for. The weak link in these speakers are the speaker wire terminals, so handle them in a way that reflects their fragile nature. I'm not sure why they didn't just use screw terminals, it probably would have been cheaper to manufacture, and being outdoor speakers, it would have helped the speaker wire that in under the screwed down terminal to avoid tarnishing which eventually degrades the circuit. ** Update ** Have had these for several years now, and I can't understand why the manufacturer used the spring clip style connection to the speaker wire. The spring clip speaker wire connection is not a good way to connect speakers in an outdoor setting. The connection will corrode fairly quickly. The manufacturer should instead just put a plug on the case and run the speaker wire out the back of the speaker case. Then, the user could simply either crimp the wires together, or just twist them together, then cover the connection with electric tape, or plastic dip, or any other mechanism to make the connection moisture resistant. This would also be cheaper to manufacture since you don't need to have the spring connector assembly.

These would be perfect for anyone who wants music or their favorite sports ...
If you are in the market for a set of durable, decent sounding outdoor speakers at an economical price, these are the speakers for you. These would be perfect for anyone who wants music or their favorite sports team on their patio, garage or shop. To better explain why I purchased and like these speakers, I am going to address the price, the brand, and the ease of installation as well as durability. The first thing that caught my eye was the price. Coming in at $31.50, these were some of the lowest priced speakers on Amazon. Compared to other brands like Yamaha or Bose, these are substantially less expensive. The next thing I took into consideration was brand name. Dual has been around since 1907 and has continued to produce good quality products at reasonable prices, so I thought these would fit well within that trend. The sound of these speakers are great and can be heard clearly from quite a distance away. After ordering these speakers, they were delivered on time and everything was in the box necessary for installation. The set up for these speakers was very easy. I mounted these on the back of a short bus that we used for tailgating. The instructions were very clear and concise. I was able to have them up and going in no time! It's now been nearly three years later and these speakers are still working as expected. When tailgating season comes back around, they are still working just fine, even after being left out in the elements. Overall I would highly recommend these speakers as an addition to a sound system for anyone looking for good quality outdoor speakers without breaking your budget.

OK sound. Loose screw inside. Grilles aren't removable.
I am sending the first set back to Amazon and will try my luck with the replacement. I actually like the sound quality and the ease of installation. I am using an older Sony micro system (35W) to drive these speakers on a narrow but long patio. Playing music used to be a problem because of the location of the electric plug and the tables. We would normally place the stereo on the serving table close to one end of a long dining table, and either people sitting at the opposite end of the dining table could not hear the music, or people sitting next to the stereo could not talk because the music was too loud. These speakers solved the problem. I placed one at each end of the patio just under the patio roof. The installation was very easy. I placed the speakers horizontally pointing down slightly, and the nuts that attach them to the mounting brackets seem to be strong enough so that the speakers stayed at the same angle after playing for 6 hours. The Dual logos can be rotated in 90 degree increments to match the position of the speaker. I used the RCA AH1650SN 16-Gauge Speaker Wire and RCA AH12N Speaker Wire Clips, which I also bought from Amazon. I applied solder to all four ends of each speaker wire to prevent fraying, especially at the end that connects to the stereo, because the stereo will be moved indoors to its usual location when it is not being used on the patio. The sound quality is actually pretty good for background music, and can get pretty loud at the maximum volume and without distortion. The materials used for these speakers are reminiscent of the cheap PC speakers: hard but easily scratchable plastic, some artifacts on plastic left from the manufacturing process, large white sticker labels on the back with large font print, but this was not a surprise considering the price. Unfortunately, I am sending my first set back as soon as the replacement arrives. One of the speakers has a lose screw inside. The speaker works fine, and I was willing to try and open the speaker to get the screw out, but I could not find a way to open the speaker. They appear to be assembled by gluing pieces together. To my unpleasant surprise, I was unable to remove even the grilles, although the product photo on the Amazon's product page shows one speaker with grille and one without, implying that it is up to the customer to keep or to remove the grilles. When I tried to pry the grille off with a screwdriver, it did not come of, but the scrwdriver left indentations both the speaker body and the frame of the grille even though I applied very little pressure. I will update my review once I get the replacement, but, given the experience, I would not rate these speakers higher than OK (3 stars). Loose screws inside are unacceptable even for a low budget products such as this. UPDATE: The replacements did not have anything rattling inside. Sound is good. Grilles are NOT removable. The speakers are OK.

Great overall value for what they are.
I have these in 2 completely different environments and they have exceeded my expectations. I have 1 set at my beach house where the air is damp and it is hot foe most of the summer. They are powered by a small amp with BT adapter there. The small amp makes them soind excellent on the outside patio. They also held up all summer with zero issues being outside. Like damp, windows stuck shut, you stuck to uour sheets type humidity. Pair #2 is in my garage at home. Dry and climate controlled for the most part. They perform just fine. I have them on a switch, piggy backing off my powerful sony receiver. I do not have direct volume control over these individual speakers currently but still sound great. That is my only gripe there but that is easilly fixable if i wanted to. That being said ... Depending on what your expectations and setup, these are 100% worth the $ from a value/sound standpoint and are very adaptable. I would buy another set tomorrow if need be for similar projects and sound needs. These get 5 stars for what they are, what they should be used for and the price point. Do not think you are getting into a full boston acoustic theatre sound system, etc. These are solid mid tier outdoor speakers that will crank with a small amp if set up properly.

For the price..
This thing is a good deal, I bought it with the Fosi amplifier and the sound is great for outdoor. By the way the logo can move easily with a little twist. Seem good quality box, its used to play outdoor so no I dont really care about the sound to be perfect, they arent 1000$ speaker but damn its good for our movie night outside, ambiance music and party outside with our friends. Why spending more when these are great. It comes with everything except the wire ;-) just get it

Superb little wired speakers
I got these tiny speakers for a silly price, as a refurbished product (not that you’d know). But even at the regular price you’re getting a bargain as they possess a clear, strong and very rich sound for something that is largely plastic. Don’t expect a deep bass at this tiny size and price, and you won’t be disappointed. But do expect a very decent sound and a very solidly made item.
