The Goldilocks Mattress
"This one's too hard". "This one's too soft". And the Haley 110 is: JUST RIGHT.This was my first futon purchase, so I did an awful lot of research beforehand. The frame was fairly easy to decide upon, but not so much for the mattress. I like my bed on the firmer side, but nowhere near the extra-firm rating. This model was advertised to be a medium-firm pad, about 2 steps softer than extra firm. Sounded good - on paper, at least. Comfort is a VERY subjective thing, and the notion of buying a mattress sight unseen didn't sit well. But, I took a chance.Placed on the futon frame, I was immediately impressed. Wow - this is really comfortable for a couch cushion. Nice thigh support, plenty of resistance without being hard, and compliant to my every movement. I stretched out on the couch, and could have easily fallen asleep. If you're 225 pounds or under, this pad will definitely provide good support. The foam bounces back quickly after sitting or sleeping - a sign of quality materials.Be advised that a standard-size cover will not fit this mattress. This is true of most Otis mattresses. Due to it's thickness, you'll have to order the extra loft (7"-9") size. That will cost you a few bucks more, but it's worth it. Gripper strips are also required, it does not bend easily in the couch position. Gets a little better over time, though.I was concerned about this purchase, but now the concerns are behind me. You get what what you pay for, so don't hesitate to give this one a hard look. If your needs are similar to mine, you can't go wrong here.

Holds Up Over Time
I've had tis futon mattress for 7+ Years at my Airbnb and it still looks great and my guests say it's very comfortable! I would highly recommend this mattress. It is much more like a bed mattress than a "normal" futon mattress.

It looks soft and plush but its super firm.
Not really a fan of firm mattresses, so its a bit uncomfortable for me to sleep on and hurts my hip just a little bit when i try to sleep on my side. Had to add a foam topper to it which makes it a bit awkward when folded into couch position which it does just fine doing. It is a bit slippery so i had to add brackets onto my wood futon to keep the mattress from sliding because the anti slip pad i bought for rugs didn't help very much. For the price its better than the 6" memory foam mattress i bought here on amazon before, but REALLY wish it was softer. I would send it back if i had the ability to, so maybe shop around a little more than i did.

The cover & piping are a little disappointing in appearance.
Just received this futon in a full size today. It's replacing a 16 year old entry level Otis mattress.Experience tells me that Otis is one of the most quality conscientious futon makers in the market. They are one of the best, if not the best, as the Haley 110 proves to be a solid product. However, curiously enough, the 7.5 twill cover and piping just doesn't measure up to their otherwise exemplary standard of quality. Having said that, I felt compelled to deduct a star for the cover and piping.Nonetheless, the plush, yet firm and dense internal layers of this futon meets expectation & the standard that they've established.Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend it to others who are seeking a plush, yet firm, quality futon.

You will NOT be disappointed.
I had a serta futon mattress that was damaged in a move, and needed to be replaced. I looked at quite a few mattresses before settling on the Otis Haley 110. It really came down to whether or not to spend the extra $100 on what I thought would be an upgraded futon experience, and I decided to take a leap of faith. It paid off.The Otis Haley 110 is hands down the most comfortable futon mattress I've ever owned or tried. It is soft and supportive at the same time, and hasn't developed flat spots like other futon mattresses that I've owned. I've only had to turn it one or two times in the 4 months that I've had it. My wife and I just bought a $1000 memory foam mattress for the bedroom, and yet this futon mattress has become the napping spot of choice. The only difficulty with this mattress is that, because it does have some firmness, it doesn't like to hold it's fold, and requires grip strips to stay in place on the frame. If the grip strips that I bought did their job, it wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, they suck, and I'll cover that in a review on that product. However, it only results in us having to adjust the mattress on the frame now and then. All in all, if you're looking for a new futon mattress, this is the one you want. I'll probably buy another one when this one wears out, which shouldn't be for 10 years (10 year warranty). I'll never go back to the old cotton stuffed mattresses again!

Worst purchase I've ever made
Back in the day I used to only get Otisbed mattresses.. so I recently had enough extra money to get a new bed/mattress.. I thought ok I need something firm for my back but something comfortable as well. The first 2 days with this mattress I was "satisfied." But don't be fooled this mattress SUCKS!!!!!!The divets in the mattress alone are enough reason but to buy it! Try laying flat on your back and your foot or knee go into the divets, so uncomfortable. Also, this mattress is firm, but if you're only sleeping on one side of the bed you better expect your matteess to turn to crap soon. Because it stays sunken in on one side and from then on your mattress is permanently at an angle!Again, can't express how disappointed I am with this mattress.

Bliss
Comfortable. Pleasant experience. This futon/mattress has squared edges for a more conventional bed appearance. Most everyone will appreciate that it can be flipped (monthly if you're heavy, less if you weigh less) - which means it's gonna last long past mattresses built today that sag at the four-year mark, costing thousands of dollars and are deliberately built not to flip. This mattress is firm, so maybe a sheepskin pad would benefit someone (one of two partners sharing the bed) who needs a bit more loft/softness. Otherwise, perfection, probably lasting at least ten years.
