Excellent - just be sure this is what you need and you will not be disappoitned. Truly excellnet tool.
First, please note this is a 7/16" hex shank - not the 1/4" you normally find at big-box or hardware stores. This particular extension has very limited application and if you are just looking for a standard "hex bit" extender - this is not for you. If you are already aware of exactly what this is, read on for the review...I generally use Irwin for hex extensions because of the way the locking mechanism works - the MAGBIT is the only other brand I have found that is as good as the Irwin. With many other brands the release is accomplished by pulling the collar forward, which means your bit can fall out (in the wall!) when you pull back. I have also used models where the collar pulls back but is not as protected, so you may lose your bit on the way in. Magbit and Irwin have a very solid and protected collar, and it seems impossible (or as nearly so as could be achieved) to accidently release the bit.In terms of durability this is the only extension I have ever used that might outlast the Irwin. I'm not at all sure it will, but it is extremely solid and well built. If you need a 7/16" hex shank with a really long reach (24"!) this is the only one to consider unless you want to join 2 12" Irwin's.I also like that the Magbit models come with an excellent "storage case" that I will continue to use unless and until it finally wears out. I don' t know this it was intended to be a long-term storage case as it looks is if it was made to hang for retail sale packaging, but nonetheless it's good quality and I'm going to keep using it.Buy with confidence, as long as you are confident about the shank size and the length.A final note on shank sizes: Hex extenders come in three different shank sizes, so be sure you get correct one for your application. Selecting the correct extender can be especially tricky because the part numbers are getting confused on Amazon. Sometimes Amazon's title says one thing and the detail description says another. It is difficult to know for sure if you are looking at the 1/4" drive (the size most commonly encountered) or the next size up 3/8" which is found on larger ships auger and hole-saw bits, or the largest 7/16" size which is not commonly encountered but a lifesaver when you need it.

WHACKER
I'll admit it, I don't know crap about tools. I bought this as an extender for my drill. Yes, it has numbers in the description and title. But that means nothing to me. Maybe big bold letters at the top of the page that says "THIS WON'T FIT YOUR $30 DRILL" would help.Yes, I have a $30 drill. And this extension weighs more than my drill. However, I'm not going to do what most people do when they are unhappy with a product or, in my case, when I ordered something that I didn't know anything about. I'm not returning this. I've found another use for it.I'll keep this handy long, hard, black stick (that sounds bad) by the door as a weapon. Maybe. Or maybe as a meat tenderizer. Or maybe something else I can use a long hard stick for.I better stop here. I think my mind is bowling.

Sturdy, but collar releases bit too easily
I like this extension, but the release collar is not well made. I recommend using tape around the collar. Using an extension, it is likely you can't easily get your bit back if it comes off.The extension is really sturdy, five stars. But, the locking collar is one to two stars.

Very Large Diameter, Heavy Duty
I am having to return this item to Amazon because I did not check the description carefully enough. This is not your standard quick change drill extension. This is a large diameter commercial/industrial size extension which does not fit into most home use drills and does not have the same size "lock and load" or "quick change" fittings as the drill bits and extensions commonly found in hardware stores. If the commercial/industrial size extension is your need, this will likely work very well for you. It appears you can use this thing to mix concrete (or drill a hole through two feet of it), if your have a drill that will do the same. I really can't rate it positive or negative since I can't use it. Just be careful that this is the extension you really want.

Chuck is too weak
First use out of the gate and the quick release bumped against another part, my work but was released into the abyss. The one I revived did have a very different looking head, no taper, all black.

NOT UNIVERSAL
The description Says the extension is universal but the quick change on the end of the extension is larger than any other quick change available on the market and does not fit most of the quickchange drillbits available on the market so you have to buy a special bit to go with the drill bit to go with the extension more money more money
