Perfection for night sweats
The evaporative cooling technology is old-school and under the right conditions it works great. This is NOT an air conditioner, so if you are expecting something similar to a window unit or car AC you will be disappointed. It can't cool down a large, hot room. But what it can do, it does really well!Where I live it can get really dry. My husband and I sleep in an upstairs bedroom that is always 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. In the winter if we lower the heater temperature, our daughter gets cold downstairs in her room. In the Sumner if we try to cool off the upstairs with our central AC, it freezes the downstairs. I have vintage windows that won't hold a window unit, and if I open a window at night to sleep, my allergies go crazy. This little cooler has been amazing to both drop the temperature and raise the humidity. Plus, the drier the air, the cooler it gets. Evap coolers dont work well in humid climate at all. I found that out when I lived in Texas.I put a thermometer directly in front of the grill of the EvaChill as it was blowing, and in my 85 degree room with 21% humidity the air coming out was 68 degrees! I put the cooler right next to our bed, on my side, blowing across us... and my husband had to pull up the covers because it was cold.I cannot say enough great things about this little machine. A full reservoir of water lasts about 3 hours in dry conditions. The tank is super easy to fill. It is cute and modern and small and innocuous. The fan is quiet and practically nonexistent compared to my air purifier. The highest setting makes quite a breeze, and the lowest is perfect to just humidify the air. It pumps out way more moisture than my cool mist humidifier. I LOVE not waking up with dry eyes.I keep it next to the bed, but it would be great in a hot office or cubicle, too. I have only had it a few weeks and I use it every night, so I'm hoping it lasts. Its like falling asleep in an ocean breeze. And a treat for anyone who suffers from hot flashes or night sweats. I LOVE EvaChill!

NOT for your car
Bought this to see if it would work for a temporary fix for my car since the A/C compressor in it is broken currently, and just after filling it with water I tilted it to see if it would leak and it immediately leaked out a ton of water. This thing SUCKS. For $100 you'd think they could engineer a water-tight seal. Found out that in the product guide, it says only to place it on a horizontal flat surface or it would leak and damage the electronics. You barely even tilt it one way or the other and it pours out the bottom lol. DO NOT BUY THIS if you're looking to put it in your car. That being said. It is pretty cool air so if you just want it for your desk and you're fine keeping a towel under it be my guest. But for $100??? Freaking ridiculous lol.

This is not an AC.
First allow me to say what the headline clearly states: This is not an air conditioner in any way, shape, or form. If you are seeking something that is going to cool a room down, this is not the product that is going to miraculously do that for you. In fact, I have searched high and low for a product that was like that only to realize that such things don't exist unless you have a window unit or a the very least a window for ventilation tubing that connects to a true portable AC unit. However, as a simple little desktop fan, it's not bad. I don't think it is worth the cost, nor do I believe in all the hype this product received when it became available. But it isn't terrible. I could have bought something far cheaper and probably received a product that did the same thing. I would also like to note, that when I first received the item, it was defective, and I had to return it for a replacement. Still, I do think it is decent for what it is. And when compared to a regular fan of the same size, the water and filter aspect of this will give you a cooler breeze, just not a life changing one.

Great for personal cooling- NOT your entire room
I really like the Evapolar a lot. 4 stars because I don’t “Love” it.Basically this device works really well when you are in direct and close proximity to it (I’m using it on a desk very close alongside my bed). In this instance, it really works well. However, my bedroom is fairly small (about 12x12’) with a high ceiling that collects a lot of heat, and so the Evapolar is really doing nothing to cool the entire room. It just cannot keep up considering the amount of cool air it’s able to push out.I live in Southern California- it’s 80 degrees right now, 65% humidity and my walls aren’t insulated. So perhaps if I was in a drier climate, the Evapolar would be pushing out colder air and doing an overall better job of cooling my small space. I did anticipate this before I bought it, so I’m not at all unhappy with the purchase.Just think about your personal situation and how well you think it’ll work for you before you buy this little guy. The very bright side is that the energy cost savings over a normal portable air conditioner have to be enormous since it’s basically just a tiny fan being powered here.
