Definitely stabilizes when ironing
The media could not be loaded. I like that it fits on top of a container that I use for scrap material. Sitting right next to my sewing machine. I can press small sewing projects. It definitely stabilizes whatever you’re ironing. By that I mean that when you are pressing your project the material will not move. I don’t like using it on larger projects because it is way too grippy. It does not glide like you would expect material to glide on a regular ironing board.

Steady Betty is my BFF
I love Steady Betty. I keep it on the side of my sewing machine when I am piecing. I used to use a small ironing pad and was on the fence about purchasing this item because I didn't think I needed it. A friend told me that I would love it if I owned it. I am not a person that likes doubles of what I already have and was hesitant. My friend had me try hers at quilting class. The difference is incredible. Normally while pressing a block the material can stretch. The steady Betty holds the fabric and makes it so much easier to press. I also find it great when I am turning under a quarter inch hem and ironing it. I have burned my fingers doing this and steady betty makes this task easy. This is not the same as an ironing board or mat. Steady Betty is a great helping hand for shaky Marie and has become my best friend.

Happy with it
Very convenient little board.. I use it daily! I've used both high and low steam I just make sure to quickly go over it with a dry iron to make sure the mat doesn't get saturated. Has held up so far, I've only had it a month or so though. Pricey but so long as it lasts me years to come I'd say it's worth it! I do love how much easier pressing is with such a solid and stable surface. Fabric stays exactly where you put it so you can do more important things with your hands concerning the garment. Great buy!

Get One!
I love the Steady Betty because I got tired of dragging the ironing board out every time I wanted to press something I was sewing. I sit it on my kitchen island, it doesn't move around, it's perfect. Can't recommend it enough!

Avid quilter and love it!
I love this thing! I bought it because I wanted to see if it really worked. Surprisingly enough, it does! The hot iron doesn't damage the surface of it. I love that it is double sided. I use one side for glue basting and let it get messy with bits of glue. The other side I use only for pressing my patchwork pieces. I wish I had gotten the smaller size of or the slimmer rectangular shaped one because the 16" x 16" is too big for my work table but I still love it. Will be buying a smaller one to take to retreats and classes.

Not worth the money..homemade pressing board works better
I really wanted to love this item but sadly I don't. From all the positive reviews of this product I didn't bother purchasing a smaller version now I wish I had because I wouldn't have thrown so much money in the trash. I made my own pressing board from 3/4' plywood, on top a layer of the batting used for making hot pads and then a layer of cotton fabric. I also have a smaller version that I have covered with flannel. Both of these boards work better then the Steady Better. I would NEVER recommend this product to anyone for the price. I could have purchased a couple yards of fabric or put the money into rotary cutters.Totally disappointed.UPDATE: Wasn't to late to return this item so its going back. If you know someone that has this item and loves it. See if you can borrow theirs for a bit to make your decision to purchase. Never know you may love it just as much as the other positive reviews.Oh...and one other thing, you can use steam with this board; however, it may warp. BE WARNED: I had this placed on my sewing cabinet next to my machine and the steam went though the board and discolored and raised the wood grain on my cabinet.

Fast Work of Pressing Seams Now
I am so glad to have discovered this tool. It has made pressing quilt seams so much easier and faster. I don't have a large enough space for a full ironing board and this fits the bill. I do wish it were 18" instead of 16 but, that's minor. The surface does not get hot to the touch. It doesn attract the little threads so I think a lint roller nearby will be a good thing.

LOVE IT
Does a great job of holding fabric in order to iron tiny seams.
