Twenty to Make: Mini Sugar Shoes

I actually bought this book to get some ideas for clay items that I wanted to make. I has quite a few ideas that can be used with cakes or clay. I only wish there were more.

It's a very small, thin book. It has just a couple of templates to make these tiny, tiny shoes. When I say tiny, I mean like small even for a cupcake topper. However, if that's what you're looking for, then this book is great. I did not think it was worth the price.

I love this! Quick and easy to make. Easy to follow instructions. Great accents for your fondant or buttercream cakes.

A fabulous little book and jam acked with ideas and simple instructions on how to make the shoes. However, a small point - was fully aware of what I was buying and already had the relevant cutters, colours and brushes etc. If you haven't and you buy this hoping to be able to dive straight in, you will be sorely disappointed.On first look, a quick flick through the pages showed me several simple design ideas that I felt stupid for not thinking of myself first however, the fact that I hadn't is the exact reason this book is so great. These really are, for the most part, simple ideas explained in a simple way which is exactly why I like it. Don't get me wrong, they are a little tricky to do - after all, the cutters themeselves go from small right through to teeny tiny but with a little practice, patence and perseverance have been able to make some fabulous shoes, in pairs, to go on top of my cupcakes (The Jem cutters you can get are slightly larger and so only one shoe wll fit per cake). Combine this book with the demo Frances McNaughton has on Youtube for the perfect guide for making fabulous shoes.

Another excellent book by the talented Frances McNaughton. Clear photos and instructions of all the shoes. Frances shows how to use basic cutters to make the different parts of each shoe (rather than buying expensive sets of shoe cutters). Very clever! Everything from slippers to skyscraper heels. I bought this book together with "Mini Sugar Shoes" as girly cakes are so popular. Brilliant price - would make a lovely gift (or treat yourself!). Highly recommended.

I have struggled to make these little shoes for my cupcakes and finding such an informative little book has been wonderful. Easily explained and great step by step pictures. Frances McNaughton is a great tutor and very simple to follow.

I quite liked this book as the ideas could be adaptable. Suitable for those with the skills and patience to construct a range of different pieces to make the shoes. An interesting read but I haven't tried any of the projects yet.

good book and well illustrated. fiddly to make but worth the effort!
