I ordered one of these from Overstock.com and it came with over 40 holes in the top. I got a replacement and it was the same. Whats with that?

Ours came that way too. All I can imagine is that they may sell, or have planned to sell, a decorative fence-like thing to help hold stuff on the top. Or maybe another level of cabinets for people with 15 foot ceilings. In anycase it has been sturdy and good for us and we just ignore the holes on top.

I see what you mean, but no, it is a very nice walnutty'oak, no real yellow tinge. We are glad we got it, generally particularly well-made (although I had to call the company cuz the cabinet doors didn't close properly and they were quite helpful) Do follow the directions and ignore the extra row of holes in the top piece.

What cleaners are suitable for the wood and veneers?

Do not use commercial waxes and polishes to prevent yellowing. Clean with just a soft cloth moistened in lukewarm soap and water and buff dry with a clean cloth.
